141 training in your own plane?

I had to get an IPC and the FSDO told me that the CFI needs to have the 5 hours.

Whoever you spoke to was wrong. The regs are pretty clear. 5 hours are only required if you are training for a certificate or rating. You can do flight reviews, IPCs, checkouts, etc without 5 hours. Insurance may have different requirements, however.

So...... My buddy will need at least 5 hours in the 20 to do my PPL? PPL is considered a certificate correct? He looked into the regs and couldnt find anything saying he had to have 5 hours. I'm confused.

Funny is that we called more then one FSDO, both of them told us different things, even when we asked if the Seneca II will require an high performance end, one said yes the other no...

Our insurance was also pretty restrictive on the req., but it was a good deal......

As somebody pointed out to me it does not apply to SE

Thats the conclusion we have come to aswell. The 20 is 200hp so there is no high performance issues to deal with either.
