$135Apache /2 =$67.5hr ME time!! KMAL anyone?

So I'm over here in upstate NY, Malone NY, and I'm working on my MEI. I'm a 1200 TT CFII. I'm paying $135 an hour for a great old Apache, the paint and interior arn't much, but the engines are strong (one is brand new) and it flys great.

I'm going to build the 15PIC for my MEI by myself, but after that I'm thinking this is cheaper and better than an "ARI-Ben" type program if I can find a partner time building partner (just like those programs do) and fly the crap out of it for 100 hours!

I'm staying in a hotel thats pretty nice, and its only $55 a night. (there are cheaper ones here to if you want to save more in that area but I didnt think it was worth it).

I figure that the Ari-ben program is 9k for 100 hours, and they charge you $360 extra for paying with a credit card, $300 extra for a checkout, and bla bla. I'll be a MEI so I can give dual for free if need be (within reason/negociable). So...anyone interested PM me, I'm looking to save some money getting this damn 100 hours of multi time that everyone requires.

I was thinking about going up there, but the weather and hotel costs deterred me. How long you up there for?

"MEI so I can give dual for free if need be"

Uh oh....don't say that. At least say you'll trade for beer...

How far is that from say KLWM or MHT? I have my multi but haven't flown in two years so I could use a refresher in the multi. I would gladly split a 10 hour block with you, and depending on the time fram and availability maybe more.

It's a 3.5 hour drive from where I live to Malone, I'm going to stick around untill I get my MEI, then I'll come back when I can find a timebuilding partner and fly the crap out of it (hopefully). As far as hotel costs, there are plenty of cheap hotels in Malone!

Yeah I was worried about that once I said it, it reminded me of all the instructors undercutting each other at a flight school I used to hang out at. Eventually everyone just did training for free because the multi-student to multi-instructor ratio in NewEngland is horrible...all the multi-students spend they're money down south.

Once I get back from FL in two weeks I'd fly it with ya if you feel like flying it down to ROC to pick me up. I know, not the best deal in the world, but its something!

Anyone that wants to fly down to the area of MHT or even BED let me know.
I would be in for 20 or so hours!!

Alright, we might have something here. Problem right now is my schedual, classes mon-thurs. One week vacation begining of april, then done in may. To really get a good time building session going I might have to wait till may...I'll try to keep in touch with both of you.

Let me know a few weeks in advance and I can easily do a full day friday and saturday!! If not, May works as well as I will be approaching the magic numbers and could use a big block of multi time.

Same boat here in MSN--gotta build some time. I may have a line on some 310 time so anyone in the area let me know. It would most likely work out to $140 or so/hr dry so a little more than $100 each per hour.

I might be very interested in splittin some time. May might be perfect too as that's when the season ends for the aerial surveying job im doing now. Im from Buffalo, so im sure it wouldnt be TOO far a ride. If i dont find a multi job by then you can definitely put me down for at least 20 hours.

mccube5, do you post on FI? Looking at your screenname I'm remembering posts on eagle and ram air frieght for some reason.

If you are willing to fly it down to the DC area, I am in for 50 to 60 hours.

I've been getting a ton of this lately...

No, The plane has to stay around upstate NY. If its there it can get fed autogas, part of the low price. Also, while the plane has made some long trips to the bahamas in the past, the owner dosen't want to be having to fly to the carolinas (for example) to change out a bad generator (yes I said generator not alternator). Trips to buffalo, NY are fine, but anything further is pushing it.

So you will be doing alot of circle flying?

Big enough circles. I just built 15 hours PIC for my MEI and toured the St. Lawrence, Lake Ontario, Adarondacks (fun in a twin! alot of territory to explore) All of Vermont, some of NH. It's a late 1950's model airplane, so if and when something happens the owner dosent want to get screwed over getting it home.

I try to keep an eye on all the forums, although its been a while since i posted on FI, i do post there every once in a while and read a lot on there. I stick to Jetcareers and APC, best info with what seems like the best people who arent there to just complain and flame.

And the idea of staying around NY and the surrounding area is just fine with me. I think therese plenty to see in upstate ny and the likes, especially early spring. Nice to have something to look forward to may and finally going home after 7 months on the road.
