135 Minimums

I have been reading about people trying to meet the FAA 135 minimum requirements, what are they?

ok, so I dug out my FARAIM, but this legal stuff always gets me...

sounds like PIC is 1,500 and SIC is 500 for a single
Twins require an instrument and Commercial?

That kind of answers my question, does that sound right?
 
To the best of my knowledge there are no 135 minimums for SIC if the airplane requires 2 pilots. The SIC though must go through approved training in the same type of aircraft that will be operated under 135 regs. I believe it is 56 hours of ground and I cant remember how many hours in the airplane, then pass a line check with the director of operations at least that is what I did at my company in the Westwind. Just think there are some 121 airlines out there who have hired FOs with 250 hours and a commercial multi instrument like Mesa's program and Gulfstream
 
Ok, that’s a good point (about the low time hires)

I guess I am looking for an answer that will give me a “number to work to” so I can at least tell myself I am legally eligible to work this job, even when I don’t meet company minimums.

From what I have been reading/gathered, you really need around 500TT and 100ME before you can begin to look for jobs?

Its been a while since I’ve been current, so trying to get back in the swing of what’s going on today.

Just remember its all about who you know. Its crappy but usually that can mean more than how many hours you have to an extent. If i were you I would make friends with someone that flys a BE90 or 20 part 91 and ask to ride along I did that while i was instructing and was even payed a little for it.

500 hours its legal to be PIC VFR only!

SIC's there is no minimum number of hours.

I believe its 135.213

Check out FAR 135.243. That is the hard and fast flight time requirements to be PIC under 135.

Paragraph (b) deals with VFR operations, (c) deals with IFR operations. Only a few 135 companies operate VFR, to be competitive for *most* of the 135 jobs you'll need the IFR mins.

You're in Durango? I used to live in Farmington. Not much for 135 and 91 operations in those areas. Who are you looking at?

Check out 135.4(a)(2)(i)(B) Second In Command- A Minimum of 500 hours. I missed that one several times while looking through the regs. It says later in that section that the FAA may grant deviations to this section under certain circumstances.
 
I am staring at the FARs for 135.... is all 135 operation a two-pilot crew??? I cant find anything in here about a one pilot crew.

Also, anyone heard of having 100 cross country of that 25 at night - as well as the 500TT? I recently heard someone mention this.
 
Negative, we operate single pilot with the option of operating two crew. That part has to do with our ops specs.
 
You can check FAR 135.243(c). Those are the minimums to act as PIC under IFR. I'm not sure what the VFR minimums are off hand, but all the mins are listed in 135.243. All operations here are at Ram Air are single pilot, in all the types of airplanes that we fly.
