0-60 (mph) in 6 seconds

I was just reading "flying" magazine, the december edition I believe, and there was an artical about the GE engines on the 777-300 and they were saying it would do 0-60 in 6 seconds.

Thats what mustangs, camaros, and other sports cars do.

Do other BIG jets do this. Or does anyone know of one faster?

I just think its cool something big accelerating like that. Thats like taking your mustang against an 18 wheeler seeing the semi keep up.

Yeah, that's some cool stuff!

I also, seem to remeber that the 777 engines total thrust was a little bit more then that of a 747!

777-300ER:

GE90-115B's = 115,000lbs thrust/engine X 2 = 230,000lbs total

GE90-115B's have been tested at 127,000lbs = 254,000lbs with another one.

747-400ER:

CF6's = 62,000lbs (the highest I have heard about on a 747)thrust/engine X 4 = 248,000lbs total

CF6's have been tested at 72,000lbs = 288,000lbs with 3 others....

yeah that guy supposedly put a JATO rocket on his car.

If you watch mythbusters on the discovery channel, they did this very thing. The car barely got to 120. I think the helocopter could still keep up.

I think the darwin award says he got up to 300 mph + and got airborne crashing into the side of a cliff. BS I say.
