I don’t think they are going to have much of a choice soon. When all the airframes you’re flying are timed out, you either go out of business, or buy new airframes. UPS won’t go out of business, but some of the smaller operators will.

    GoJet pilot on the radio

This thread, and the GA guy who can't fly are pure irony.

Someone needed to fill the void that the aging Metro's and 1900's are going to leave. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be a huge flop like the Skycatcher was.

Southwest Airlines pilot arrested for bringing loaded handgun to airport

Yes and no. It all depends on the station. Many of the places I go don't have PreCheck, yet I don't have to take my EFB out, and some PreCheck lines make me take everything out and separate it. There is zero consistency. And then, when I forget to ask, it's like I've declared WWIII on the TSA.

Southwest Airlines pilot arrested for bringing loaded handgun to airport

The problem with taking your badge out of it's holder is even that is inconsistent. Some places make you, some don't. This new crap of having crew members take all their electronics out of their bags too, even EFB's is complete nonsense, and again, there is no consistency there. We aren't...

    TA ratified at Endeavor!

No, it's not even close. If you don't like it, no one is begging you to stay. The people here make this place. Hell, I was offered a place to crash on a road trip one time, and another with no timeline when I was going through my divorce. I had numerous people checking up on me from here...

    TA ratified at Endeavor!

This is the only aviation forum I visit. The others are so full of trash and rabble rabble, I can't take it.

    TA ratified at Endeavor!

There is a lot more to the equation than just pilot salaries though. From what I've been hearing (honestly don't know the specifics), this ended up being a pay cut for some guys because they lost the bonuses. Just curious is all. Not trying to harsh on anyone's party.

Will this still make it cheaper for them to provide the lift?

    DHS hacks 757 from gate

Right now, I'm not sure anyone actually could. I don't think the system have the ability to do anything other than read the data that streams in over ACARS. But what I think a lot of people, or at least myself are alluding to is if we decide to take the pilot out of the equation all together...

    United Pilot's Brothel Business

I'm curious to see who his clients were. Maybe I'll try and go work for United? I mean you're paying for it one way or the other, right?

    Looking for some advice...

If you're okay with having little to no social life (except on overnights when the crew doesn't suck), making crap money for a few years, and being gone a lot, then this is a great job. It takes a special kind of crazy to put up with the schedule.

See the post above yours. I'm not talking about today's fleet. I'm talking about all the "pilot-less errplane" people.

Controller charged with possession of wmd

My dogs the same. The best is when it's an audible fart. It freaks her out, and she jumps up and tries to run away from her own ass!

    DHS hacks 757 from gate

I totally agree. My argument is for why the f would you want to take the pilot out of the loop of that?

    DHS hacks 757 from gate

Which leaves an in. There is data broadcast over that VHF channel. At this point, it's insignificant. Just data, no commands. But if there was commands....it could be hacked.

If you take the pilot out of the equation, and only have a network, what makes anyone think that it won't happen?

And people want to go with pilot-less airplanes. QFT!

wife beats up husband on flight after discovering he's cheating

So it's okay, as long as she doesn't find out? Good for her. Good for her for figuring out a way to hang him by his balls. He didn't get the ass beating he deserved. It should have been worse.

A good stick doesn't necessarily make a good pilot. I'd still rather have a pilot with 4000 hours of real experience, than a pilot with 500 hours, who soloed at 15, and hasn't seen a winter yet.

Former baseball player dies in plane crash

It's not a terrible design. It's a high performance single, not meant for your low time pilot. Edit: Never mind, I thought this was an Epic, not that light sport deal.
