Came across my news feed. Seems like this jet might actually become a thing. Pretty damn cool if it makes it.
GE’s AffinityTM: The first civil supersonic engine in 55 years – launching a new era of efficient supersonic flight
I dunno, I've switched back and forth between the 175 and the CRJ (not by choice), and I'd have to disagree. The training programs in other countries are a completely different animal, and when guys are bombing out of training here state side.....well....
We do the fire hose method here. The...
Because there is no hand holding for training in the US. Typical training cycles for the type here are roughly month long. Two weeks of ground, two weeks of sims. Overseas, they want you to know the torque specs of the nacelle attachment bolts. A friend went from the CRJ to a Japanese...
Is there room to add some servos?
It'll be something I do after I'm done building a Sign 1/5 scale Cub I'm converting to electric. I still enjoy gluing a bunch of sticks together, but kits are getting hard to find.
I think arresting the dude was a bit much.
Strip him of his medical and make him fight for them back, but locking him up? Way to promote a good safety culture.
Ha! FYPM!
Imagine that, "slug it out in the regionals, pay your dues at subpar wages and terrible work rules" has turned into no one wanting to do this job anymore. Who would have thought?
Yeah, I know. I flew charter looong before I came to the airlines. It could be as simple as shutting said curtain, and grabbing the crash axe. You protect the cockpit at all costs.
If you can figure out how to avoid the loans, that's your best bet. You'll be eating slim the first few years. Your FD retirement will help a lot though.
They don't need to brainstorm at all. They just need to start paying up, and giving guys decent schedules. The solution is really simple. Quit being greedy bastards, and charge what it actually costs to run an airline properly.
This paragraph is contradictory. This is why the shell game will keep going. RJ's add value in the form of available frequency of flights among other things. The fact that we couldn't get everyone to stand together when contracts were being negotiated is exactly why they will continue to keep...
So How long before this guy taco's the wings on a 50+ year old Baron? I mean don't get me wrong, this is cool. But he seems like he's trying to be a wannabe Bob Hoover.
Yeah, money is one of my motivating factors. It's a friggin car payment a month. I could upgrade to a pretty damn nice car....that didn't smell like cigarettes... if I quit. Plus, I wouldn't have to have my daughter break my heart and ask me to stop. Nicotine is a hell of a drug.
I break rules all the time and it usually ends up ad "hmm, I didn't realize that was even a rule." I'll give you an example. A few years back, I got a prescription for Chantix. I almost took it, but I was talking to a captain about it and he told me it's not approved. That would have been an...
There's at least one mainline that charges it's regionals for non-rev privileges. Hell, I've had gate agents try and charge me for a Zed fare to list for a jumpseat.
I hope these people get caught and fired. They're going to screw it up for the rest of us. Better keep that crap quiet around me, I'll make it my mission to see to it.
Because at certain shops, competitive is finishing your four year degree in exactly four years, volunteering on your free time, and not having a spot of lint on your suit at the job fair your paid $600 to attend if you were lucky enough to not be invited.
Basically, it's Stockholm syndrome.
