    PSA CRJ-700 AA midair collision

He just texted me. He’s fine. He knows the FO involved though. Just a sad day all around.

    PSA CRJ-700 AA midair collision

My buddy from my FedEx feeder days is a captain at PSA. Two young kids at home. Still waiting for him to text me/call me back.

    Non-sequitur from “UA 787 Emergency”

Correct, I used 9.00 sick credit hours, and 0 the previous sick year, thus exempt from the GFB call per the PWA. Anyways, not trying to be snotty or defensive, apologies if I came across that way.

    Non-sequitur from “UA 787 Emergency”

I mean, it isn’t, but you’re also kind of judging the entire place by a couple of incidents of hearsay. Conversely, I’ve called out sick several times, including one the day of the 2nd ATL meltdown a week or so ago (was legitimately sick), and nary a peep.

    Non-sequitur from “UA 787 Emergency”

You don’t even work here, so how would you know how “retributionary” things are? There are several contractual exemptions from good faith basis calls as well as using more than 120 sick credit hours in the previous 12 bid periods. Stick to Eskimo’s problems. You certainly have enough of your...

1 year down, 24 to go: a belated "HIRED!!!!" post...

Outstanding! Congrats! Living in base at the airline you’ve always wanted to work for is as good as “work” will ever get. I’ll be at my Air Line a full year next month, and I still get a stupid grin ever my time I bring the thrust levers forward on takeoff. You’ve earned this!

    Reserves and Your Airline

I’m feasting on short call credits like a fat kid at the buffet. I’ve flown 2 days in the last 4 weeks….if not for CQ I probably wouldn’t know what my aircraft even looks like.

Off-topic performance discussion (from ATR 72 Crash thread)

Flew to STT a few weeks ago, there was maybe like 2-3 knots of tailwind landing on 10. Did an an autobrakes MAX landing. Anyways, it was definitely longer than 4 hours after that experience and no, I didn’t see a doctor.

    ATR 72 Crash in Brazil

I wasn’t going to, but I’m glad you made that point for me. The ATR is mostly flown in countries outside the US now. And most of these accidents reek of incompetence and/or poor training. The ATR is definitely less forgiving of stupidity than a lot of types, especially in icing…..but you know...

    ATR 72 Crash in Brazil

You’d think the ATR was an absolute death trap given its accident history. In truth it’s just a mid, boring, large turboprop. Funnily enough, at my old company, we frequently flew them into places like Minot, Bismarck and Duluth during the winter. Still do in fact. Almost 3 decades of...

Dude is so thirsty for some of that SJI action. Copping a Jumpseat helps him live vicariously.

    The Mega Outage

I was awarded a 4 day yellow slip that was supposed to start today. They pulled me off short call yesterday for a trip that cancelled, and the first leg of that original YS trip cancelled as well. This is fine (don’t pay attention to the flames engulfing the building)
  16. Apophis

    The Mega Outage

Yep. I was only at United for about 4 months before moving to SJI. Their IT is light years ahead of Delta.

This is why people don’t take you seriously. It’s a completely different aircraft. The 757/767 is not a 737. wHy doNt u fLy a cOmPletEly dIfFeReNt aIrCrAft ThE sAmE???!1!1!1! More 737 News

The 757/767 is not the 737. We don’t have landing speeds approaching the sound barrier. We also have twice the amount of main gear wheels, and thus brakes, as the guppy. A fairly heavy 757 landing at Autobrakes 3 barely warms up the BTMS. We use AB3 all the time on this fleet at widget.

    Oh Alaska/Boeing

Boeing doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt anymore. Sorry. This is far beyond “it happens at other manufacturers” territory. There is a systemic rot at Boeing that they seem wholly incapable of stopping. They’re reaping the rewards of literal decades of incompetence. There was a period of...

    Oh Boeing… again 🤬

Getting rid of the 757 will be the dumbest thing Boeing ever did. Whoever was responsible for that decision should be doomed to ride in the 2nd 737 Jumpseat until the day they kick the bucket. No breaks to stand. No leaving the flight deck. Just cross the country back and forth forever in the...

Southern Airways Express 208 Landing on Road

Funny because it’s true. At MAC, they kept our last few booted 208s in Fort Lauderdale and San Juan until they were eventually retrofitted with TKS.

The TKS equipped birds we had at MAC were quite capable. Kept the wings nice and clean. Never had the displeasure of flying a booted van, thankfully.

Hilarious that an airplane delivered in 2023 has that mess of 1960s era-anunciators. What a compete and utter POS. I didn’t have that much time on the Airbus before leaving my previous job but I’m honestly hoping to get it at Delta with my new hire bid next week. I’ll even take ATL 717B before...

    Am I nuts?

The best of 1960s technology, today!1!1! On the bus, you simply leave the APU running with the APU bleed on. Engine bleeds will automatically be closed in that configuration. Then, after thrust reduction and workload permitting, two button presses. One for the APU bleed, one for the APU itself.

    Am I nuts?

I don’t have the same time at my legacy (3.5 months), but I have a Jan 16th class date at Delta and I have zero doubts about the decision. Delta was always my priority but Family time is also everything to me, and I’ll get more of that living in base. I live 45 mins from the ATL airport, a base...

QX2059 Jumpseater tries to shutdown engines

I think that’s likely. Maybe some day the FAA will get with the 21st century concerning mental health. Maybe AAM-300 needs to have their budget withheld until they employ a medically diverse, competent staff of MD’s. Not rigid ex-military doctors stuck in the 1950s. How many pilots fudge their...
