I thought this was kind of interesting: the BTS Table for First Quarter 2008 Domestic Airfare

Highlights include:
  • Cincitucky airfare is still the highest in the US (60% more than average).
  • Fares rose 4.4% over the same time last year (even though the cost of flying rose about 40% in that same time :eek: )
  • Adjusted for inflation, fares are still about 20% lower than Q1 2001 fares.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think most are still on hedged fuel right now. They are losing money hand over fist with lower prices.
 
It'll never change. . .never expect any airline to ever turn a profit. . .even Southwest - according to USA Today.
