Mountain Air Cargo

How goes the upgrading. Like if you were hired into the 208, when could you expect an upgrade?

LOGS.... arent you in the left seat of a SW3 right now? Why would you want to leave SW to hop in a C208? PM me dude.

sw4, just hate the company and elp. Looking for something else. Don't mind a small step down if it means theres a good upgrade later on.

I was jump seating down to CLT a month ago and had one on the flight with me. They just got into cass and what not. However his picture wasnt there. Anyways we were talking. He told me he was based in Indy as they do a lot of stuff for Fedex. He said he loves it. He was on the ATR as an FO. Anyone know if they have an IND base?

ok after some researching and I know these arent all of them bases are: MQI, VRB, FLL, MIA, MCO, EYW, SBY, MYR, GSO, MEM, BKW, CLE, SBN, IND, SJU, RDU.

Of course some more senior then others. I dont know any more. Just found those for now.

I have all the 135 mins minus 1500 total time, but I sent in my resume for 208 capt.

JJ9711,

It all depends if you have a regular run or you are a floater.

Example # 1 you are the F/O in MSN
4 nights a week you will be going to Ind and come back early morning ( free all day, sleep..). you will start your week monday night and you will be done friday morning ( that is nearly a 4 day week end ). You will do your run for 10 week then you will get a full week off.

Example # 2 you are a F/O floater out of Mem and since the F/O in Msn is on his week off you are going to do his run for the week .
They will fly you to Msn on Monday do the run and fly you back home on friday when you are done with the run. ( In function of the run you will be covering, you might travel on sunday due to duty time, and couple of the runs are 5 nights a week then you will get home saturday when you are done with th run ).

Pro & Cons ( Floater versus non floater )
Non Floater : excellent quality of life, some runs you show up around 7:00pm take off at 8:30 land at 9:15 spend the night in the hotel fly back home around 6 am and done for the day. There are not all like this, some of the runs you will be up all night. And you are off every week end.
The cons is routine routine same airport everyday, some runs you will not log more than 8 hrs in a week, no per diem.

Floater different flying not same airport all the time, you will get per diem, & travel pay ( can make a big difference on your pay check ), you get a week off every 5 weeks. You might get reserve at home ( since we are not like an airline, 85% of the time in reserve you will be doing nothing, alot of free time ).
Cons: some of your week end might be cut off if you are doing a 5 nights run since you will be travelling back home on saturdays.

In summary a non floater will have good quality of life ( but then again it depends some of them you are up all night and personnally I rather sleep...) but same run over and over and less money.

Floater travel a lot, different flying, more money.

Hope this help, :nana2:

Is MSN or CWA going to be possible bases to get? Also, I read on another board that MAC wants you to live where your based..is that true???

Can someone confirm or deny the street captains bit? Last I heard they had 5 year FOs waiting to upgrade. If that's changed I'll be on it like white on rice (when my contract is up).

from my interview, they will not hire street captains into the van without previous 135 experience. that being said, if you have experience in the ATR or van, they would at least look into open captn positions

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I was asking about ATR street captains. I don't have any ATR time, but I do meet the minimums on the ad and have a decent chunk of 135 time (~3000). File away under "here's hoping"!

my gut says, "no."

it's good you have the 135 time, but if youve got no ATR time I think that would be difficult

I see that the website lists BOS as an airport they serve, but then Manchester, NH (KMHT) website says that MAC flies in there. Does MAC fly in and out of MHT? Is it a base? Or is BOS a base? If so, for 'vans, ATR's, ??? Curious. Anyone in the know that could fill me in would be appreciated. I obviously know that Wiggins flies 'vans in MHT, just wondering what MAC does.

Stonefly,

For the ATR base look at my post july18th, those are current & accurate base for the atr.

As for the C208 I am not sure since I am on the ATR and I don't get the C208 schedule. Regarding the map in the Mountain air in website, Do not pay too much attention to this map, it has not been updated in yearssss...
I am pretty sure that we are not going to Boston & New Hamphire.
Most of the 208 (when I was in it ) were in florida, SC, NC, WV, IND, SJU, BWi, EWN.

Badenov,

I don't think they are hiring street captain for the ATR, I heard they have done it in the past. There are no 5 years FO in the ATR, the oldest might be at 3 years at the most. Some people might have more than 5 years seniority as a FO, this is because they were flying the C208 for couple years and decided to move to the ATR.

Hope this help. :o

skysign:

Thanks for the info. For those who are interested, I've heard now from other mountain guys that "ATR Street Captain" is over.
