Thanks, that helps a bit.

My primary concerns are:

A) Being selected for a lowest rated facility and thus being paid less

or

B) Being selected for a highest rated facility and being doomed from the start

I've been hearing horror stories about OTS's being placed in level 12 facilities and flunking out, and it makes me think that I'd be better of withdrawing from the process if that happens. Is there any merit to this or is it just big talk from the veterans?
 
Well, I took the AT-SAT today in Arlington and I feel good about it. Not confident, but feel good....luckily for me, if it happens, great...if it doesn't...great. Fortunately, I have the resources to go ANYWHERE they need people, Guam included, so I'll go wherever they want.

If I met any of you today (7/15) in Arlington, sorry I didn't introduce myself, but like everybody, I had my game face on and I was focused on doing my best, not socializing.

Hope to post my score sooner, rather than later.

I don't see how you can avoid both of those scenarios, with the pay cuts it seems like it's either one or the other...no middle ground. If I were you, I just wouldn't worry about it. Have confidence in yourself and don't worry about what everyone else is saying. Good Luck:hiya:

Well the obvious best case scenario would be a middle ground, like a level 7-9 facility as opposed to a level 4 or 12. We'll just have to see I guess.
 
I read where alot of people talk negative about going to larger facilities right off the street, but the way i look at it is that if it couldn't be done then they wouldn't send us there. i feel like if the guy/girl next to me can do it, then i should be able to also. Some may call it cocky, but i call it determination(getting away from manufacturing). Of course we all want middle of the road facilities, but the fact is, the larger the facility, the more open slots for trainees, so that being said, let the fun begin!:D
 
I took the AT-SAT yesterday in Daytona Beach, FL. They said the scores would take a week but I figured I would check just now...got a 97. I suppose that's okay. =/

I felt decent about the test. The math, analogies, angles, dials, scan were all fairly easy. I got the prep book suggested here online (which was incredibly different in the letter factory, scan, and ATC scenarios). But yeah...score is well-qualified so I guess it can't be too bad.

Anyhow...
that's all. Gotta read the past few pages I've missed of this thread now.

I was told that these generic personality tests throw a red flag if you answer "definitely true" or "completely false" for each answer. Such as, "I never make mistakes" - "definitely true" as opposed to "mostly true" crosses that fine line from confident to arrogant. Whatever amount of truthfulness is in this, I can't be certain, but I'd agree with it if I were writing the test!

Just a rule of thumb I read and followed - be 100% honest. If your high school math teachers would call you an "average student," don't boast that you took stats in fourth grade, etc. The personality part seemed to be the worst, because by the time it rolls around, you're ready to go home... I know I was, I had a 6 hour drive back! :)

Those personality questions just about drove me crazy! :banghead: I was trying my best to analyze myself correctly and truthfully, but I probably still had conflicting answers. They'd ask some broad question one way (which made me think of an example of me being a certain way); then they'd ask that same kinda question in different words, which would change my answer completely. Maybe I over-analyze or something, who knows, but I sure wish those questions would be more specific on what they are pertaining to. For example, "Sometimes I surprise myself at work" or "I'm more aggressive than most my peers". Is that surprise in a good way? Is that aggressive as in motivated in your career, or violent? Am I the only dummy here? :crazy:

You are not alone! Those questions gave me a headache too! Supposedly they ask you the same question more than once within the test but word it around differently.:panic:

Throw enough darts and you'll eventually hit a bulls-eye. Throw enough trainees into NorCal Tracon and eventually one might make it.

Fun is going to be the last thing you're experiencing when you're working LAX tower or Atlanta Approach Control as a brand new controller. Remember - you are dealing with people's lives. A SINGLE mistake and you could kill hundreds of people, not to mention ruin your own life forever.
 
Anyone seen test scores for tests taken on the 10th or 11th? I took the test on the 11th at Peachtree, and it's still nothing on ASAP.
 
took the test on the 14th and scores were posted the next day... scored an 89.6 overalll despite efficiency ratings between 65 to 75 on the scenarios... i kept landing planes at high speeds because on the test the planes would disappear quicker when closer to the airport than the cd and not having the greatest hand-off acceptance time because once u select a target you cannot deselect it unless giving it orders

Just wait till the PEPC, for the MMPI (psychological evaluation), it is pretty much the same, but the questions are weirder and there are 370 of them. :panic::panic::panic:
