where is a Good CFI Flight School

We run this exact program at Career Pilot School. You can do either just the CFI, or CFI, CFII, and MEI. As has already be said, this is about focusing on QUALITY, not time or cost (though those are, of course, also important). Our program is not the cheapest way to go about getting your CFIs, but you will leave as a quality flight instructor.

Also worth noting- we have a 100% first time pass rate with the FSO for our CFI initial.

I was looking at the prices of both these programs. My goals are to knock all the CFI stuff out at the same time. $10,000 seems like quite a bit for all the ratings and it doesnt include housing and the examiner fee. I would love to go to a quality program such as this but am unsure whether it is worth investing that much into it.

Opinions please!

Depending on how up to speed you are, you are looking at about a month and 4K or so for the CFI. Another 2-3K for the CFII (if you are up to speed and IFR current and capable). Probably another 4K for the MEI. Total time with my school, probably about 4-6 weeks for the CFI (movin it a bit). 3-4 weeks for the II and same for the MEI.

The problem with my flight school is that though we have 9 full time instructors, we are slammed. And come fall we start up all of our fed contracts. Take a look at us though. Oh yeah, we are in Chandler, Az.

Sure the price is a little bit steep, but few places that quote you for less will be worth it. About two months ago I was a fresh commercial pilot unable to find a job in our ever-changing industry, and had to figure out where I wanted to get my CFI training at. Almost every place I spoke with quoted similar amounts of flight time, and all but one seemed hesitant if not unwilling to put the effort into the ground school. If you really can sit down and read the books and honestly teach yourself then CPS isn't for you. I however knew (from previous experience with Career Pilot School), the quality and thoroughness of the ground education I would get from Michael. In 11 days from start of ground school to CFI-Initial ride I felt more prepared for that day than any checkride previous (except for possibly my instrument ride that we scheduled while on a cross country, ride started about 3 hours later...I didn't have time to get nervous). Bottom line is that you can fly an airplane anywhere. Its the knowledge that you learn and are able to pass on that makes the training valuable.
