New Landing Technique?

Has anyone heard of this or used this technique? Sounds like a good way to save some fuel.

that doesnt really sound like a new way to land as it sounds like a new way to structure the national airspace.

and pulled off the NPR website " A new style of landing called "continuous descent" involves the plane flying straight." how can you be flying straight if you are continually descending?

Flew several of these into ATL for the test phase. It was the KERMT1 arrival. Worked out great. At TOD, the power came back to idle, and down you go. Depending on winds we tweaked the VS with the boards, and at the speed changes, used appropriate flaps. Hit the FAF on speed, and configured. It will make a lazy pilot out of you. THe only issue is, for it to work, everyone needs to be doing it. Get one guy in there who doesn't have an FMS/autopilot capable of doing it and then you're back to "turn right/left, slow down, speed up."

Which would mean every single EMB-145 out there (or at least every Jetlinkin' EMB-145 out there), we don't have VNAV.

Airnet has been doing this for years, as well as every other freight op out there, at least after 10pm when the rest of you go to bed. 2-1 vs 3-1.

Amazingly we do this every night with some simple math and a little technique. Harder to do during the day because of the masses up there.
We were set up to do it going into BDL last night but a 145 had to turn base 9 miles out and then do 150 all the way in. Oh wells.

i see nothing about the flare mentioned, therefore it is a new APPROACH technique, not landing technique
