Got the call from SkyWest

He probably knew someone in the right place, thats how most of these corporate gigs seem to work out... Guess I need to make more friends.

Yep, I got the Hawker job via a student I was working with on his CFII. He was in line for the Hawker job and recommended me on his way out the door to his new job. Turns out he met a guy with a C208 and C421 who needed a chief pilot. I have always wanted to fly Corporate but always thought I would have difficulty networking my way in. We have all heard it a million times but Aviation is a small world. You just never know. Now I am just looking forward to paying it forward when able.

BTW, the Hawker is awesome! (1970's technology and all)

Thats great! Corporate/135 can be hard to get into here in California. The companies usually have steep minimums and a lot of qualified applicants. It looks like that part of the industry is pretty stable right now, have fun!

He got a hold of Camiel and I went in for an interview last week. Ill find out in 5-10 days. It was a tough interview, no doubt about that. I wouldn't be surprised if I got the call either way... How did everyone else's go?

I interviewed last week as well. My interview went alright. Like you said, it was a tough interview.

I still haven't heard anything. My interviewer said in his debrief, "I'm gonna recommend that we hire you." Sounds promising, but I want to see it in writing. Him having said that, I'd be absolutely devastated if I got a rejection letter since he got my hopes up.

I've heard that people have received calls. But after saying he'd recommend that I get hired, my interviewer said that I should expect a package by FedEx or US Mail. So I'm not even sure what we should be waiting for.

Also, I've heard people say it's 5-10 business days. Some people have heard as early as the day following the interview, and some have said at the end of the 10th business day. The wait is killing me....

I interviewed a few weeks back. I am currently working for a 121 carrier but want a back up plan just in case. I found out when I was there that people do sim prep and ground work for this interview..hmm, go figure.

Interview was straight forward, no big deal. I was asked if I was interested in the Bro or CRJ. Since this is just a back up plan I wanted the CRJ because I should have a better understanding of my airlines stability when class date came around.

Got call 2 days later saying I got the CRJ and a packet would be coming in the mail. Came FedEx with some new hire info and the limitations study guide.

Nice people and seems like a good place.

So I just got the email that I've been hired!! Turns out, however, that I'm in a pool. There is now a pool for both the CRJ AND the EMB. 44 people in the RJ pool, 23 in the EMB pool, 8 pending aircraft assignment including myself. Ugh... Any thoughts?

It took 11 days for them to call me - I was a train wreck. I felt bad for the other cfi/ students around me at work because I must have been a woman lol.

Just be patient - you'll know soon. Best of luck to you and hope to see ya @ SLC.

Congratz on the offer! Take the EMB as you will probably be out of the pool quicker. They must have filled up that August class quicker then I thought.

There is a person who apparently assigns aircraft. She's been out of the office. I plan on taking the EMB assuming it is the first available class. Funny part is, she mentioned a July class that was full, but there was no mention of an August class. I'm wondering if that's why the EMB pool is 23. There are 8 of us that are pending aircraft assignment until that lady returns to the office. After aircraft is assigned then we'll receive the package that contains study materials.

Congrats and welcome aboard! We have 22 new aircraft (previously announced/planned) coming in the fall, plus the Broskis are sticking around longer than planned. You will be out of the pool pretty quick methinks. :)

Sweet. Someone in another forum interviewed mid-May and is in the August 4th class. Maybe they're just leary of scheduling a September class so far in advance. But if they only put 20 in a class, and there are 23 in the EMB pool and 8 others waiting on aircraft assignment, then it looks like the possible Sept class is full too. Argh...

mrmeschi-make sure you check your spam folder. That's where I found my congratulatory email. I would imagine you'd get it by COB today.

Yeah I got an email. No offer for me. :( I guess I will try again in 6 months depending on what the industry looks like. Maybe Ill get lucky like wanabe and get a job flying a Hawker...Hey a guy can wish right?

I'm sorry to hear that buddy. I was really hoping you'd hear something positive. Keep doing your thing and something awesome will come your way. I've been turned down from a lot of jobs, and it always seems there's only one company that will take a chance on me, and things just fall right into place. So, I think things happen for a reason. SkyWest was my 6th interview this year. Three turned me down, Eagle cancelled class 5 days prior, and was supposed to finish the Sim portion of my Colgan interview in 3 days, and just found out they're cancelling all interviews. So...keep doing your thing and good luck...

Hey thanks. Yeah I have some good things going for me, Im not going to let it get to me. I really did like the company and enjoyed the experience. We will see what happens in 6 months.
