July 9th OKC

I have a class date of july 9 for the academy in OKC. Anyone else have the same date ? I haven't found a place yet and I'm wondering if anyone has any reccomendations on whether it is better to stay in FAA approved housing or to find your own. I appreciate any information anyone has on the subject
 
What TRACON are you going to?
Housing is up to you. Make sure you check out the FAA housing on the net and get it scheduled ASAP or you will have to stay in a Motel or another form of commercial housing.
Don't plan on receiving per diem for a few weeks so bring enough money.
 
I'd stay away from Meridian Mansions. Spanish Gardens and Apple Tree aren't to bad. Spanish Gardens is in a better area though. I've never been to Walnut Gardens but i here it's ok too. I'm living at Highland Pointe which is really nice and only like 4 years old.
 
I currently live in Spanish Gardens. Not a bad place at all. Also would recommend Citadel Suites. Stay away from Mansion South.

Curious as to what PEPC location you interviewed at? How long from the interview until your 9 July class?

I must be more tolerant. I'm sure there is nicer places for around the same price but this isn't bad at all especially if it's your only option.
When I booked, out of all the furnished housing that the FAA offers, meridian mansions and mansions south had the only vacancies(hint hint...yeah I figured).
I have a pool, washer-dryer in unit, dishwasher, coffee maker and all cookware. No covered parking though:mad:
 
I'm with ya...I'm here for three months, so I can pretty much live and tolerate anything. I just got lucky at Spanish Gardens that everything seems to be really nice.
 
I've been here a week and I haven't paid anything yet. I doubt all apartments are this lenient but I bet most are.
Hand in receipts in 15-30 day increments and it's probably a week or two after until you are reimbursed.
FYI: The FAA will not pay you for future days, they only pay you for days past. Do not use GovTrip to submit vouchers.
