All I know is there is a lot of speculation in this thread, but very little facts. We have not heard anything from ExpressJet, Continental or SkyWest management about the current status of merger talks. All we have learned is that our union has declined any further discussion with SkyWest about abrogating our scope clause.
Personally, I think ExpressJet will be just fine. I do predict the closing of our branded flying, some growth in the charter department, maybe a few more airplanes for Delta on the west coast, and some furloughs. We have a lot of work to do at ExpressJet, not only in our business plans but also operationally.
I for one am breathing much easier now that I know my union does not plan to relax scope. Honestly, that has been my only concern. The pilots that came before us fought hard for our scope agreement, and it is essential for avoiding further whipsaw.
