One should not have to keep a low profile or worry about land mines when they are the customer... or do you mean it in that way?
IT's like anything in life, if you rub the wrong person the wrong way, either it be at a flight school or a job, you won't be around as long as you'd like. Well also at ATP, due to the nature of the program, you MUST perform or you get kicked out, I agree with that, wish I could do that to some of my students at my flight school... Just take note of just how many people say "Stear clear of Jax" vs the ones that say it is fine. One or two people saying to stay clear is nothing, but when you hear it from 30, 40 different people, theres something wrong.
JAX has a lot of Type A's. Theres also some great guys there like Matt. Some of the flight instructors at JAX are not contractors but actual salaried employees.
Hey, just do this for kicks, next time your at JAX, hang around the maintenance hangar, NOT inside it, don't dare do that, but hang just outside of it, you'll see the attitude of JAX come alive in front of you in the form of a mechanic who thinks pilots are idiots and he is god. Others in JAX are not as open about their feelings of you but do the same thing with the keyboard silently.
Places like SUA are run by the instructors, the evil ones only communicate with them via the telephone, at least they can't see you, the student for most of your time at ATP to be judgemental towards you. I went there, I have many friends, many who made it through, many who opted to not do CFI part of it, and many who were kicked out. Strange how nearly all of them who got kicked out were either in JAX, or were kicked out or left before doing CFI only after going to JAX. And others like Kfour did quite well in JAX from what I can gather. Like I said, theres land mines, you need to avoid stepping on them. And I am ignoring my own advice by writing all of this, I am sure theres a few at ATP who know who I am and well... You know, it is a small industry.
