CrewPASS...The Beginning.

We're CASS, but I don't see us getting the whole CrewPASS deal. I may even be in uniform. But since I'm not in CrewPASS.... my liquids, gels, and bottled water would have to go like the rest of the passengers is what concerns me.

why not just use CASS as the authentication method and be done with it? It works for JS, why shouldn't it work for CrewPass? If you're in CASS, you're covered, if not you aren't. Problem solved.

You know what really ticks me off about TSA? Its the inconsitencies at every airport. Saturday afternoon, I was at ONT trying to jump to PHX. I got to the security checkpoint and was turned around to go get a security document. Today I'm at PHX airport (jumping to OAK). I go get a security pass and wait in line (in uniform) with all the other passengers. When I get to the TSA agent, she tells me that I could have just went through the employee line. I told her that I wasn't on duty and she says it didn't matter. She didn't even check my security document. She just looked at my ID. Waiting in line to get to the kiosk for the security document cost me about 30 minutes.

I guess I can't complain too much because it's a free ride, but it can be so frustrating sometimes.

I agree completely! Thats why i just j/s in uniform when going to work minus the epulets and tie. And i just wear a normal jacket. The seem cool enough with just the white shirt. I have never been asked to put on my peices of "flare" just to get my liquids thru.

You know, since I left Amflight I've NEVER been asked where my security document is.

So, let's say I'm commuting for a 4 day starting the next morning. Why should I have to pack an extra uniform just so my Crest or contact solution doesn't get tossed by TSA? We don't HAVE the option of checking bags like passengers do.

You can't check your bags as a non-rev? Wow, I guess those times I did it, it was just magic!!!

If they want to take their toothpaste or contact solution, they can toss it in a bag and check it. I don't know about you, but I don't feel like going to baggage claim every time I commute in.

You don't FEEL like going to baggage claim. That's your problem, not TSAs.

Also, I don't know why on earth you'd need an extra uniform shirt to get through security, go to the men's room and change into a polo. It's a tried and true method, and if the TSA has a problem with me doing it, they can (you know the rest)

Actually, the rest is fine you $30,000 and bust you with a federal felony charge.

It's happened more then you think.

I searched and couldn't find anything about it being against the rules or anyone being punished for it. Got any links?

Last week I too have gotten deprived of my shampoo and toothpaste because I was not in uniform. I was aware that I had to check my bag since I was not in uniform and had liquids and gels in my bag, but was running late, boarding had started, and they wouldnt check my bag so I had to carry it on as it was not large. Thats when it happened, they said since I'm not in uniform they have to deprive me of clean teeth, and hair. :(

I now always travel in uniform since I want to keep my liquids and gels. And everyone treats me like a walking airport information desk, where ever I may be.

The TSA is nothing more but a hassle, and a waste of money. Security for me is 60% of the aggrivation I go through when non-reving. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I hope this CrewPass thing goes through, as mentioned before once this ball gets rolling maybe eventually we wont have to play dress up, either.

They'll most likely make a rule that states that the CrewPASS can only be used if on duty.

Me either, but of course. . .we'll always have some pilots who want to see other professionals suffering by having their liquids taken.

How come at certain airports you can walk through ops with no screening and at some you must go through security. Seems like the bigger airports you have to go through with the PAX. I understand that terrorists probably don't want anything to do with TOL or these small town airports but after we all walk through OPs our whole crew and every other one that went through ops that day now has access to every other airport they are flying to with absolutely no screening. It just seems backwards to me. I really have lost all respect for these idiots due to the lack of consistency. I told a guy at CVG who tried to take my toothpaste that at the airport I just came from I didn't even walk through security and if he really wanted me to I would put on my uniform shirt. He said not to worry about it this time but remember that I need to be in uniform to bring through big bottles. I told him it was a stupid rule, he said he agreed but he didn't make em just enforced em.

Well he's kind of telling you the truth on that one. I'm sure some police officers think the same way. I get pretty ticked when I am the only person on the highway at o'dark thirty in the morning and get pulled over for speeding. I really can't blame the LEO for enforcing the law because thats his job. If he doesn't do his job and I end creating an accident. It would just as much his fault as it would be mine.

With that being said, I'm not in the terminal as nearly as much as you guys are and I get pretty frustrated with it. It makes me really happy that all I usually go into are FBO's and base ops.

Oh yeah. If you think that TSA is a joke, you'd really have a good time trying to get onto a UPS ramp!:D
