Announcement Ending 05/02

Anyone wanting to go to the Boston, New Hampshire area? I Haven't seen hardly anyone on the site mention any of the facilities here.
Does that increase my chances??:laff:

I am trying for CHS tower. I know a lot of the Feb Apps submitted for the Southeast region. Is anybody else trying to SC?

I put in for RI and MA. In the comments I put NH also, but I hear this won't matter.
I was told by someone at BOS Tracon that another person left last week and they are minus two people on every shift there.
Good luck.

I have applications in for both of the OTS periods this year. I received a geo pref email on the 5/02/08 selected enroute colorado and hawaii. For the test notification I didn't get an email. I got the letter two days before the deadline and 12 days before I was to take the test. Hoping all goes well for you 05/02/08 applicants.

On the application I put United States like it asked, Mass, and RI.
At that time though, I didnt realize that BOS Tracon and BOS Tracon were both in New Hampshire, not Mass. But, from what I've read here it wont matter too much because they give you another Geo Graph Pref form to fill out after you get your score back anyways.

Apparently they've limited applicants to 2 choices of states. That will be a tough decision to make (if given the chance) because of where I am.
I'd love to go to Logan in MA which is close by, or one of the 2 in NH, but they would require a relocation. On the other hand TF Green in RI is really close to me too.
I know I would take any of them if they came my way, so I'd like to be able to select 3 states. But, oh well

Hi everyone, I too applied for the 5/2 announcement. Just wondering what some of you recommend as a good study guide as I wait for any news. I apologize in advance if this info is posted somewhere else.

Hello.
I haven't been selected to take the test yet, but I still went ahead and bought this book
http://www.amazon.com/Traffic-Control-Career-Prep-Comprehensive/dp/1560276142
(I picked mine up on eBay for 15 bucks, including shipping!)

It appears that this is one of the few things you can use to prepare for the test, and the one that most people will recommend. (although some will tell you that you cannot study for the test) Having not taken it, I cannot say either way.
Most importantly the book comes with a CD rom that allows you to take practice versions of the tests on your computer. I think that for me anyways, the ability to practice the tests at home will make a huge difference on my score.

That is a good book to study from. There was a thread here titled "AT-SAT study guides" that had some info. on this topic.

Looks great! Thanks for the reply. One quick question I have about the CD that came with the book. Is it Windows only or is it both Mac & PC compatible? Just curious. Thanks again.

Not sure about that. Maybe a Mac owner can confirm ...
but on the publishers site,
http://www.asa2fly.com/product1.aspx?SID=1&Product_ID=714&
its says this,
"Included CD-ROM system requirements: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, 233 MHz process for 98/ME, 500 MHz processor for XP/2000, 128 MB Ram (256 MB for XP), 1024x768 32-bit display, CD-ROM drive."
It doesn't mention Vista, but it does work for it.
You also need to download the updates for it from the same site.

I bought the same book as well. It should be here on Monday and I will run the CD on my buddies Mac and let you know how it goes.

On another note, has anyone heard anything about the ATSAT selection, like when we will find anything out?

I ordered that book as well, and it should be here tomorrow or Tuesday, but I run a PC.

I also borrowed a copy of the Barron's Air Traffic Controller Study guide from the library, but it is definitely an older version, as it doesn't talk about the online application process, but still manual forms. I figured every little bit will help, especially when it comes to the aeronautical tests....

Also, I've been using http://www.jeremyjustice.com/games/ to help me with some of the tests....not sure how close it is to the real test, but at least it gets me in the mood to stare at a computer screen and keep my fingers on the keys to type fast.

I took the test in march and had gotten the same book with cd. There is no true way to study for the test however the cd does help you become familiar with the way the tests are done. Use it as much as possible. It is kind of glitchy on a vista machine but works fine if you have xp, don't know about the mac but it will probably work. Good luck.

Has anybody from the 5/2 cohort gotten word on the AT-SAT yet? The February bunch seemed to get theirs in about 3 weeks, and it's three weeks for us on Friday.

Also, do you guys know whether e-mail and postal mail are the only forms of notification, or does it also show up in ASAP somewhere?

Haven't heard anything yet... I remember someone posting something that said they called the FAA and we should be hearing something this week or next week regarding the AT-SAT.

For the notification part, I've been hearing you'll receive an email, but I also remember someone saying it'll appear on the main screen on ASAP (right under the white "Important Information" box) before you get the email.

As far as notification, when I was selected back in August to take the AT-SAT, they sent me a letter and an email. I passed up two separate opportunities, however, due to some scheduling conflicts. Then when I applied for the Feb posting, my girlfriend also applied and got a phone call mid March to take hers, but no email. Then at the end of March I received an email, but no phone call to take mine. So there doesn't seem to be any consistency as to how they contact you, it's been different for everyone it seems.

You'll be notified on the ASAP homepage, as well as an email from the testing agency. You'll then need to call to confirm a test date. Make sure you confirm, as well as a follow up call before the test to also confirm. The day I recieved the email I called, and the morning of the test, the testing agency was not expecting me. It was then a simple phone call to OKC and I was allowed to test, but I nearly lost it that morning. Hope you guys hear soon.

For me, all it said on the ASAP website was "You've been selected to take the AT-SAT test, you will be contacted within the next few weeks..." something to that effect. I got an e-mail from Robinson Aviation, then a letter in the mail after the deadline. Check your spam folder every now and then.

This information is all very helpful... Unfortunately, I don't see a testing notification on the home page or anywhere else in ASAP, which may be a bad sign :(. Has anyone who applied to the 5/2 OTS announcement gotten notification on ASAP? It's looking like the 2/15 group's showed up mere days after applying.
