Can you explain to me what your schedule is like? Are you telling me that you're home every night?
I live in base so I'm home 95% of the time. I've spent 1 night away from home this year that wasn't planned (i.e tdy etc). I've had more reserve time this year, but i'm only averaging 5 or so days a month away from the house. I probably averaged 2 nights away from home each month during preceding years. THis being said, I'm probably pretty lucky. THere is a pilot in my base that next below me in senority that has been tdy for 2 months. THe more senority you have as an FO or CA, the better off your schedule will be. IT is the same as any other place to work.
Outstations were the way of colgan past and present, but probably not of the colgan future.
Outstations may be here another 2 years, or gone next month. Nobody really knows. For the family guys, the outstations work great. I don't see them being too cost efficient or mx friendly, so mgmt may cut them back some more. RIght now we are probably losing one or 2 a month. ON the flip side, if we did go to all hub basing, commuting at colgan would probably get a lot easier. my .02
