Location:
Silver City, NM

Description:
City Link is a well-established part 135 air taxi with a strong corporate client base. While the FAA certifies the King Air C90GT to be operated by a single pilot, we better serve our customers by having two commercially rated pilots on every flight. The co-pilot duties include assisting the PIC in all aspects of the mission, while gaining valuable experience and exposure to the corporate air transportation industry. From flight planning and preflight preparation of the aircraft through familiarization and operation of aircraft systems, the copilot is an integral part of the crew experience. The Co-pilot will be allowed to fly select portions of non-revenue legs under the supervision and solely at the discretion of the PIC. The instruction and progress of all pilots are closely monitored by the Chief Pilot and management at City Link to ensure a quality experience for all.

Comment:
Candidate must have Commercial Rating, ASEL, AMEL, and Instrument Airplane.

That sticks out like a sore thumb!

That sticks out like a sore thumb!

After flying a 401 for 3 months free in the middle of nowhere, why would you want to stick around for pay thats probably close to free flying a C90, when you can fly a SJ for peanuts at a regional somewhere close to civilization.:D

Silver City is not at the edge of the earth but you can see it from there, its north of Deming NM in the mountains

Pilots beware! I lived in El Paso, TX for 17 years. In case you're wondering, the nearest big city is Las Cruces, NM (about 100+ miles away) then El Paso (150+ miles). Silver City is a small town with no alternative employment opportunities to supplement your living expenses. We all know there is more to life then just getting housing paid for. If you can afford to take the risk, so be it. By the way, if you can afford to live three months as an intern in Silver City, then you should have enough in savings to get your CFI and get paid to fly rather than be someone's sucker for three months. I would not recommend this. Whoever posted this ad should ashamed of themselves. Stop trying to get free labor from us pilots!

Maybe I should have done this: Enjoy! :sarcasm:

Just because someone posts a job doesn't mean they work there. It's wise to investigate and gather facts before casting judgment and jumping to conclusions, young grass hopper (15 posts). Let me post another job opening in a new thread for your viewing pleasure. And no, I don't work there either.

Mission Aviation,
Perhaps this may interest you—even though it’s not a dispatcher position—as it appears you are interested in becoming a dispatcher.

This may be a good way to achieve your dream, if you qualify. For instance, if Executive Jet hires you for this position, they may be able to provide dispatching opportunities in the future and provide your training.

Who knows, you may qualify and be promoted to this position after working there for awhile.

First of all just because you have 127 to my 15 posts does not mean you have more experience than me. You have no idea who I am or what I've done. Just because I've only joined the group later than you doesn't mean I know less than you. Trust me I'm well connected inside the industry, probably more than you. So lets grow up alittle bit with the stupid analogies please. Secondly, These forums were made for us to voice our opinnions on important topics and issues. By no means did intend on hurting the feelings to who ever posted this ad, but it is my opinnion. The folks that responded to this post had no idea where Silver City was. I provided the facts, not to mention they all agreed with what I said. Thanks for the help in providing me with some links, but they weren't necessary.

I love it. they need a second dummy to ride along for free because it is safer. That is until they get a plane approved for single pilot...

Please everybody, don't work for free!

With their name the only thing I can think about is the Chinese guy from southpark ansering the phone. "Haaaroo sh#tty Wink Airwines."

Why people can't get their CFI ratings and start building time the better way? Because of of people that are selling themselfs for free we will be under paid for ever!

I was pointing to your lack of experience on this forum because you didn’t take the time to research who I was before posting: "Whoever posted this ad should ashamed of themselves. Stop trying to get free labor from us pilots!"

Just because someone posts a job doesn’t mean they work for the company. Instead of assuming, you could have very well asked if I work for said company.

You have no idea who I am or what I've done.

That’s right. And with only 15 posts, it was easy for me to read what you have been writing about, giving me a little insight on your interests and what you’re about. From this, I learned that you have aspirations of pursuing a dispatching career. On the other hand, it appears you only viewed one of my postings, learning nothing about me from the topics I had previously written.

I provided the facts, not to mention they all agreed with what I said.

The two who responded to your post never mentioned that they agree with the facts you provided. Only one of them agreed with your statement—“stop trying to get free labor from us pilots”—as quoted below:

Anyone else care to send the CP a piece of their mind?

Thanks for the help in providing me with some links, but they weren't necessary.
You’re welcome.

joeblow,

Where did you get this ad from? I found their website, but there was no job postings for the positions. Infact, the website was still being built. There was only two pages that actually had info, and it wasn't very informative.

I have access to Riddle’s job posting network for students and alumni since I am a Riddle alumnus. I graduate next month with my MBA from Syracuse University, so I am in the job hunting mode. If I’m in the mood as I come across job postings, I will post them here. I haven’t been posting on here for a while since I have been so busy with graduate school. I also found a few jobs that Executive Jet Management / Net Jets posted through the Riddle network. There are well over 400 job postings on there that may not be advertised anywhere else but with other schools. I have found many positions on the network where it isn’t even posted on the company website, as you pointed out with this company. As you can see, City Link is trying to get free labor by advertising the position as an internship. There aren’t too many paid undergraduate internships out their let alone actual internships where students have an opportunity to fly. I’m not debating whether this practice is right or wrong, just posting the position. I am full aware and do agree, though, that this type of practice is not good for the industry.

I know a few guys that flew for City Link. The FO's fly the empty legs and log and 15 - 20 hr a month. Its an ok place to work but you will go no were fast in life

I forgot to say is that city link will not give the FO's an SIC 135 check out. Becouse they do not what a high turn over. That is why the FO's log 15 - 20 hr per mo.

I agree with the other posters, as I've learned, don't work for free, and don't jump at the first place that will offer you a job, get quality work first.

In other words, their customers demand it. In which case, they should be willing to pay for it.

Who's gonna point out to this dude that his customers would be better served if he worked for free, too?

I appreciate what you're saying, but there are lots of people who have no business instructing. One of 'em I know is testing for his CFI next week, and I feel for anyone who may have to suffer him as their instructor.
