Don't forget tail wheel.
My edited version of your post is the correct rule. Endorsements are not required to log PIC time, only to act as PICIf you are certified category, class, type (if necessary) ... than yes, you can legally log the time.

Well that all depends on what you are logging it for. If you are planning on applying that PIC time toward a certificate or rating under part 61, in which part 61 requires you to have that time, and allows you to log that time even though you are not the acting PIC of the flight, it would be ridiculous for you to not log it. If an airline asks you how much PIC time you have on an application, don't count that time where you were not acting PIC. But if the regs allow you to log it toward a certificate or rating you are working on, or may work on in the future, log it.Regardless of what the regs may allow you to do, you are not the pilot-in-command of that flight. Do not log it as such. If your friend is certificated as an instructor, then perhaps you can log it as dual received.
Regardless of what the regs may allow you to do, you are not [acting as] the pilot-in-command of that flight. [In my opinion, you should] not log it as such. If your friend is certificated as an instructor, then perhaps you can log it as dual received.

So you are saying disregard 61.51, which specifically tells you that you may log it as PIC, and not log it? Makes sense....![]()
Well, yeah. It does make sense depending on who you are. Flyguy covered the reasons pretty well.So you are saying disregard 61.51, which specifically tells you that you may log it as PIC, and not log it? Makes sense....![]()
So what is the correct answer? I was going to log it just to say I flew an extra. But is that ok?, even though I have my high performance and tailwheel?
:yeahthat:It would be fine to log it, even without the HP and tailwheel. FAR 61.51
My standard question to this kind of response:Regardless of what the regs may allow you to do, you are not the pilot-in-command of that flight. Do not log it as such. If your friend is certificated as an instructor, then perhaps you can log it as dual received.
I guess what it comes down to is, you can't both log the time unless one of the following:So what is the correct answer? I was going to log it just to say I flew an extra. But is that ok?, even though I have my high performance and tailwheel?
