Republic vs Mesaba

I'd build time until you reach mins......then apply to everybody.

Keep your options open, the company who is #1 on your list might not call you!

yup, which is why i haven't applied to anywhere as of yet. i am coming up on 1200TT and i am not starting to feel ready to be sitting up front in a more serious commercial situation, whether it be 135 freight in low wx, or in front of 50 pax. i don't see how the guys with 300TT or less can want to do it. that is a hell of a lot of responsibility, and aviation is no joke, people die when mistakes are made.

They aren't the PIC. In 135 and as a CA in 121 you are. So being an FO at a regional is a nice bridge to taking on that responsibility. It's like OJT, but in 121(some 2 pilot planes 135)you are required and are fulfilling an import role. Also the more time and experience you get the more you realize there are things that can bite you.

You are ready.

BTW CE525Guy I love your avatar!

I just reread my post, i meant to say "i am just now starting to feel ready"

update:

The guys with low time really don't have the responsibility like you think they might. When there is a guy 4 months off IOE who still has under 1000 hours, they're helping out here and there but trust me the Captains really have the instructor hat on and feel the weight of the responsibility. I applaud you for waiting till you're ready and you'll be better up front the day you decide to do it. But when it's crudy out, I find the new guys are just busy doing their normal day-to-day tasks of getting atis, setting speeds etc and most don't have the "big picture" yet of our fuel status, available alternates etc...Just lack of experience at that point, they'll improve though.

Awesome dude! I bet you'll hear from Mesaba before too long, but I'm surprised Republic got back to you so fast. I waited over a month before they called me.

they either are desperate or really like my times. although they are not that impressive at 1200TT and 225 multi. i submitted my application at 615pm CST on monday and had an offer for an interview at 300pm Tuesday! that is like what 21 hours?

I'm glad to hear they are keeping on top of things. Mesaba HR is must have a giant case of the Monday's. I know a lot of folks I used to work with at Colgan are over there and happy. Good luck with whichever you decide.
