Two surprising items...

Bid packets actually made it out before the last week of the month.

And they'll begin hiring street captains into the Q400.

Well let me tell you...

The ITH Morning Line has a 400 hour sit every other day.

And with our new hot reserve policy- they don't have to pay us 1 cent!

I just wish PNCL would get HEF in shape. Close these outstations and let's run it like a real airline! Not to mention the Q400 95% daytrips!

And with a little investigative work I found that Bekley, Johnstown, Jamestown will all CLOSE effective May 1, 2008.

Colganites- log into http://crew.colganair.com. Go to "BASES" then click on Bases Memo. It's dated for tomorrow- March 14.

Already hiring streeters into the LEFT seat of the Q.

Quality op, they got there.

Yet again I am glad I left.

Good luck to those who stayed. Get yours and get out while you still can.

Oddly enough, from what I hear from the old timers here, that sounds like an old Saab line here. I hear horror stories about 3-4 hour sits in outstations in the old days.

Over here, bidding for April is open, but no bid packs as of yet. We do know there are no 4 day trips in MEM, only 3 days and high speeds for the most part. And that's thanks to the FA bid packs. They've also reduced the number of CA lines and upped the number of reserves due to the "volume of CA sick calls." Tell ya what, guys. Staff the airline right, and you won't have to trade hard lines for reserve lines to cover flying. Reserves are supposed to cover IROP and sick calls, not be there to cover open time......

Oh, and the latest CA vacancy closed at 8 am yesterday. Not posted yet. I just wanna know which class I'm gonna be in....

No 4 day trips systemwide, and DTW will reduce flying in April by 300 hours due Cpt sicks calls (or so they say)...
Heard that MSP will close as a base within a year and they will just run DTW and MEM crews through to cover day rounds out of MSP.
This should be great.

HAHAHAHAHA, AAAHHH HAHHAHAAHAHAHA.

No wait, I'm not done holding my sides yet!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Glad I left. I'd be that junior Captain on the Beech getting my bent over right about now.

I hope that CJC can't staff the Q left seat until Pinnacle pilots have the opportunity to bid into it.

Now THAT would be JUSTICE.

LOL Hey- maybe in a thousand hours or so, I'll come back to CJC as a street captain in the Q in Houston or something. Now THAT would be funny.

Add "irony" to "justice." Assuming that a) we'd be allowed to bid into it and b) we'd have people actually do it, they'd HAVE to close a base just to staff it. See the above on reducing hard lines in order to cover sick calls. Guys, if you have to reduce lines to cover sick calls with reserves, you're FAR from being staffed, no matter what the CEO tells the shareholders.....

So that whole 1000TT minimum isn't working anymore huh? Or is it now 750tt?

Not enough coming in from the various bridge programs I also take it?

They want 1000TT and 200 ME or a wet CMEL and bridge program. Heres the email I got:

Thanks for your interest Pinnacle. Your resume has been processed and at this time we would like to encourage you to obtain more flying hours or attend a Jet training program.

Currently, we have bridge programs in place with CAE, RAA, WMU, Jet-U, Flight Safety, Skyline Aeronautics, ATP, Embry-Riddle - Daytona, UND, and Simulation Standards. If you complete one of these programs, our flight time minimums of 1000 TT and 200 ME are waived, and you will be granted an interview as long as you meet all of our other requirements (ATP written, FCC permit, First Class medical, passport, etc.). You can find more information about these programs on our website,

I wonder what the kick-back rate is on these Jet Courses.

Ya know what I mean?

It's bad on the FO side....it's getting worse on the CA side of things. Guys on reserve in MEM have been taken down to 8 days off a couple of times thanks to being JMed into their days off. Sure, you get a comp day for it, but good luck getting it down the road. Apparently, scheduling has decided that they need reserve coverage in order to cover a comp day now, even though the CBA specifically states that reserve coverage doesn't matter. They're trying to pressure people to just cash the day out and work fewer than 10 days in a month. I can only imagine how much of a terror this would be if SWA and everyone else hadn't slowed hiring.

I'm sick of fighting for pay credits.

Sit in Ithaca for 13 hours and get paid for 1 hr 34 mins!

ALPA anyone? Oh yea, that's right...ColganCares.

That 4 hour sit is dumb, but I guess since we aren't getting paid for it, as soon as we land in LGA, the phones go off and we are on our own time until the next leg. Statue of Liberty anyone? Who wants to go see the Empire State Building? A walk in Central Park? Hope they don't need me! :D

ITH Morning Schedule

ITH-LGA Dep 1330 Arr 1458
LGA ITH Dep 1630 Arr 1710

Get home at 1815. Just in time to go to bed!

14 hours away from home to get 5hr of credit.

The thing that kills me is, the amount of flying hasn't changed. They're giving it to other bases. Just close the damn base and stop ruining lives. Who is building these lines?!?!?!

Didn't take that long to start singing a different tune eh? What about being home everynight?

Welcome to reality :).

How bout LGA? We opened as a base to fly to MDT and LEB. All lines were meant to be multi-day trips. April's lines, of which there are now only 5 down from the 9 we started with, include a grand total of 4 overnights. We stopped flying to MDT at all in December. This month we only even go to LEB once a day afer the first couple days of the month. Nothing but day trips now. What the hell is with that crap? And we're the "hub," yet SYR still has around 13 lines with lots of flight and pay credit. Total BS...
