ExpressJet Posts 31.7 Million dollar Q4 LOSS!!!

High operating cost of the CRJ-200s and the rising cost of fuel were factors, as well. In the end, the result was bankruptcy and liquidation. However, it is a much different story than what is happening at XJT

Sounds like the same thing is happening to XJET to me, minus the competing head on head with a major part.

Good luck to the ExpressJet pilots, by the way. Like Independence, your company tried to take what's screwed up about this business and do something about it by offering a superior product at a competitive price. There are definitely some similarities, but there are way too many differences to call it a "redux".

Thats the problem. XJET has a superior product that is quite costly. But selling it at a "competitive price" will not result in enough revenue to cover the costs. Maybe they should turn the whole branded operation into a corporate/charter type deal.

I must have missed the part where XJT had a hostile takeover attempt, lost all of their express flying in one shot, and started a LCC with over 90 airplanes on a single-hub system. I also didn't catch their Airbus delivery dates. Ah, well..... :)

Maybe we should start a "I support Express Jet" campaign.

ie, pay a reasonable full fare for a roundtrip joyride?
That would be nice...let me know what routes are hurting profits and I'll contribute. Guys let me know where you want a round trip on branded for your spouse and I'll see what I can do to help...

The good fight all the way up until furloughs, a buyout, branded shutting down or CH 11.....one of these will happen.....look more for the buyout
Where do you work? I hope the industry never takes a dump on where you are at, as there will be less people on your side...

Buyout? What does the company own besides a paint shop and MX outsourcing services? Can't their agreement with CAL be terminated with 12 months notice? They don't even own the leases to the unprofitable 50 seaters.
Don't they own their a/c? I don't know...you know more about this RJ stuff...

Yeah, maybe a nice roundtrip to Ontario and back.

I can get my drink on with those $1 beers.

Support XJET, folks. Watching on the best labor-friendly companies out there tank only spells bad things for the others that aren't stabbing labor in the back.
Good luck to all those in the Replacement Jet Mini Major industry, especially if Express tanks. Y'all are putting the writing on the wall for your company. The lowest bidder gets lower...

*forget it.
Why didn't I listen to this one first...oh yeah, some very good wine...:D

Colas...
Furloughs can't be far behind if they don't right the ship GD QUICK! FlyI redux.

18% of the fleet is tied up in branded.

The COLA's are because a 10% reduction in block hours from.

Wait for it.

Wait for it.

Continental and Delta.

To be fair, the 25% branded schedule reduction didn't really help either. It's a system wide issue and let's be frank, branded isn't exactly anything but an anchor with $107/bbl oil.

train,

So, you lost ANOTHER 10% of your contract flying. Your branded load factors are insufficient to produce profits.

Do you really think VOLUNTARY leaves are going to take up the slack? I'd polish up the resume if I was in your seat, lad. And, I'm not saying that to be an a**hole, just giving you some realistic advice.

Best of luck. I mean that.

I know it'd mean a further commute. . .maybe? (Is ATL easy to get to from SLC?). . .but John, let me know if I can be of any help. We are ALPA. :)

But here is to hoping it won't come to that. . .

I hope it all pans out...met a great group of guys that fly for XJET and had a very pleasant experience both times I flew on branded. Wish them all the best and am obviously willing to help out anyone if it comes to that...though hopefully it won't.

We've still got 274 airframes, just less work for them to do in the CAL/DAL bases.

The flying did not get shifted to another carrier, it just disappeared due to the high costs of oil.

We have too many FO's for the amount of flying we're doing right now. We have about 1500 FO's, so 10% of that is 150 FO's, sooo...as of right now I'd say that I'm safe for a few more months.

I might take that a step further. Who in this business should let their resume get dusty?

But I agree with your point. I'm not doom and gloom jtrain but it might not be a bad idea just in case.

If I was number 1 at FedEx I'd still have my resume saved on the computer. In the age of computers we're now in I don't think it takes anyone more than ten minutes to make their resume presentable and up-to-date if they have the last one they used still saved somewhere.

It is the ten year work history form that I will NEVER delete! That was a pain in the neck to initially create.

The only thing I can hope for is that the COLAs do their job. Any and all furloughs will definitely hit me...at least until about 6-12 months after they start running normal classes again.

But at least I'm 99% sure I have a CFI job lined up when they send me away :)

Either way, JH, should things go south, drop me a line and we'll see what we can do (and I don't mean at Eagle, if you don't want to come here, I have other ideas).

Ford, FlyChicaga.....and any of my other JC ExpressJet brothers & sisters, same goes for ya'll. I might be able to recommend ya'll for something else either here at Eagle or somewhere else.

Big prayers and well-wishes!!!

Stan

Likewise. If anybody from XJT finds themselves looking for something, I'd be happy to recommend anyone here for something at Eagle. I know it's far from an ideal solution, but it's better than nothing.

It's the least I can do.

The only way to ever make a decent living in this industry is to marry rich. I started a poll a month or so ago trying to figure out how many had sugar mamas...too few with the JC group. I haven't given up yet tho.
