Don't you think it might be a bit presumptuous to form that opinion before we've even met? Perhaps you should at least talk to some of the pilots who have been represented by me. As an LEC Rep, I did more disciplinary representations than many of the other reps combined. Why was that? Usually because the pilots specifically requested me. The overwhelming majority of the members that I represented trusted me and were happy with the representation that I provided.
You should give me a call the next time you're in Atlanta so we can do lunch. I think you'll find that I'm not the monster you've imagined.

Wouldn't you say the vast majority of topics talked about on this website, other websites, and in real life deal with just that. Hell, I debated with someone whether the Kidd deal was good for the Mavericks today. Should I have not done that since I don't play in the NBA?
Come on man, you do this all the time too. We all do. If we could only talk about what we have experience in, conversations would get boring...quickly.

Debates are by definition "a formal contest in which the affirmative and negative sides of a proposition are advocated by opposing speakers".
Perhaps a lot if this could be fixed if someone would put down "In My Opinion (IMO)". Some people, me included, aren't terribly interested in everyone's opinion. Everyone has so many opinions its hard to shuffle through the BS. /side rant The stuff i hear from my 450 hour wonder housemate is enough to drive my noggin through a wall /end side rant. Many of us just want to hear all the facts and go from there. Unfortunately, this thread is a lot of prophesy and tea leave reading and I don't know where the debate is anymore. As far as I can tell its, what is good or bad for US Airways and pilot groups as a whole. Some guys are union reps, some guys are line pilots, and some guys are training who are responding on this thread. I'm inclined to take an experienced "opinion" over armchairing. BTW, this has all been IMO

I flew an empty 145 the other day. Went like a rocket compared to normal. Thinking what a Citation X would do gives me a big rubbery one.

So am I understaning this right? A person who doesn't vote doesn't count as a vote of no in this upcoming vote? If so why is it different than say the Colgan vote where all the chump who didn't vote sunk the election?
It works the same as the Colgan vote. Here's how it goes:
In order for the pilots to continue having any representation at all, 50%+1 of the entire group must vote for one of the unions. If less than 50% vote, then ALPA is decertified and the pilots have no union anymore.
Now, if 50%+1 vote, then whichever union has more votes will be the new bargaining representative. Example: 80% of the pilots vote, with 45% voting for ALPA and 35% voting for uSAPa. In this case, ALPA would be the union, even though they didn't get 50% of the total eligible pilots. All you have to do is get a majority of the votes cast as long as at least 50% participate at all.

Anyways, we have UA captain over there who has stated his strong distastes with the easties.
Seems when UA-US might have occured, US jumpseaters would frequently wear DOH buttons. And brag about how they were gonna fly all of UA's 747's and 777's and displace all their captains back to the right seat.
He said that this frequently occured, and their arrogance truly knew no bounds.
So, DOH isn't a new thing for US Air pilots!

You are correct, Max! In fact, the entire reason that DOH was removed from ALPA merger policy (in 1992, if I remember right) was because rumors were going around about a merger between UAL and AAA. The AAA pilots started bragging about just the things you've mentioned, so the UAL guys got some support together on the EB and EC and got the merger policy changed. The whole irony here is that the Easties might still have had DOH in the merger policy for their merger with AWA if they hadn't been a bunch of di--s during the early 90s.
