How much did you make last year?

about 51000 but half the year was in smaller equipment making about half of what i am now so we will see what next year looks like but should be about 70000. been here about two years and starting to want out. oh well i do love the type of flying. by the way i flew 1280 hours in the year. keep in mind im flying pt 135 in alaska so we have a 1400 hr max

I've been very interested in expat flying, but have no idea where to start looking. Any suggestions? I've got a CE560XL type...those things are all over Europe...or so I'm told.

I actually fell into this position. I know someone (NETWORKED/MET AT FLIGHT SAFETY AND KEPT IN CONTACT) over there and happen to have a Lear 60 type rating which is what they need. I was really offered the job without a formal interview but am going through the process next week. I am pretty excited because I really want to take this job and live overseas for a while.

As far as CE560XL types flying around Europe I have no idea. I have never flown around Europe other than a trans-atlantic crossing to England. Otherwise I have no idea how things are done until I go through a Euro flying course which the company does in house. This company flies all "N" registered airplanes so they are American pilots flying them. As I learn more I will share on this forum.

Good luck to everyone. I truly hope people will use this info not for bashing one another but from learning what could be had in this career we call aviation. There is alot of bad stuff out there but also some GREAT opportunities if you are creative, personable, and most importantly can NETWORK yourself. If it has yet to been said...network, network, network. Your student today may be your captain tomorrow. Keep that in your brain housing group. :)

Position: Pee-on at a crappy flight school
Airlines: hahahahahha! but I still have to wear their silly uniform b/c they think they are special.
Years: 7+ months
Salary: -$56,000 (note: NEGATIVE)
Hours: 256

Extras: ..... waiting silently in the eaves with my attorney to get a new house on their false-advertising (copyrighted) dollars.
Knowing that they read my posts: Priceless

Dude! Please tell me youre not in the hole for 56k for flight training so far!

Ouch!!! I'm betting you get a huge refund every year, right? Add some allowances to your W4 and keep that money through the year. Letting the government hold on to your money is costing you interest income.

I wish it were that easy PCL. Taxes from other income eats up every penny and then some. But look at the bright side, at least I get to fund some of those rebates that our beloved government is sending out to stimulate the economy. You're welcome!:laff:

You do make a good point though about not letting the government keep more of your money than you expect to owe in taxes.

A Colgan Captain in his second year earning 43K for the 1900.

Slight correction, Ed has not had the pleasure to fly the 1900 here. He is on the Slaab.

A Colgan 1900 Captain who spent 5 months as a First Officer, one month in upgrade training, and then flew the line six months as Captain made $36,955.36

I am a 'I wanna fly' type of guy so I worked my arse off.

I get a small chuckle out of the people posting their salarys, then look over at their Osa....errr Obama avatars. Might as well cut that number in half!!!

Actually, that number was already cut in half because of the Bush administration's anti-labor policies and the anti-labor courts. If it weren't for that, our salaries would be a hell of a lot higher still. Learn to vote your profession.

:yeahthat: And learn to do some research. Obama wants tax relief for the middle class and tax increase for the rich.

So your salary goes up, which means the ticket prices goes up, everyones taxes go up, and now they are too broke to fly, so your airline goes out of business. Sounds like a win win to me!!

Define rich? I think the number is alot lower than you think it is.

Actually, the number is a lot higher than you think it is. Only those making over $288k a year will get a tax increase, and only a small one at that. Those making less than $50k will actually get further tax cuts than they've already received from Bush. Don't believe what Neil Boortz tells you.

Neil Boortz is an ass.

Good luck to you sir, I hope it works out for you.

so are you saying you'd rather vote for someone who would be happy to see foreign owned airlines flying domestic routes, take away our right to self-help (strike) and implement baseball style arbitration under the RLA? Well at least you wont have to worry about taxes because you wont be making any money.
