How much did you make last year?

Position: FO (They call us CO-Captains here because we all have an ATP and type ratings but its a crock, I am an FO)
Airline: Corporate Aviation
Years at Airline: 1
Gross Earnings: $65,000 + Per Diem

Job offer in hand from another company...
Airline: Expat pilot in Europe
Base salary of $120,000 plus $100/flight hour + per diem. All housing costs paid for as well as three business class tickets for the family home per year.

My wife and I are flying out in a few weeks for a meeting with upper management and the president of the company, also we will be shown apartments and meet other flight crews. If I take the offer then final arrangements will be made as well.

306K.

30K was a signing bonus that I won't see again, but I think I'd still have made 280K with not calling in sick much and cherry picking the open time. How many hours? I don't care to figure it out but I'd guess around 150 to 200. Now that I have the ONT reserve game figured out, I'd bet I fly less than 100 a year for quite some time. Might make a little less next year as well, but it ain't no thing. It's always been about QOL with me.

this is by FAR the best job held by anyone on JC so far...nice!

~$35k base salary
~$4k Contract flying
247.8 hours
Pt91 Corporate

This year I stand to make a bit less than that, but fly more, and actually have a chance upgrade, which would have never happened at my last job.

This whole thread is not very encouraging. I love aviation, but I don't think I can accept such a low salary for so much time away. I have a college degree with a major in economics, minor in business administration. I am currently a CFI with 600 hours. My peers are all accepting jobs for twice this pay and will be making closer to 100K within 5 years. It almost seems irresponsible to work for that type of money even though thats what I would like to do more than anything in the world.

How do you guys live on these type of salaries?

Most of the people who posted were either instructors, or in their first year with a regional. Of course their pay was low. The ones who were past that were earning good money. Two Express Jet Captains earning 75-80K. A Colgan Captain in his second year earning 43K for the 1900. A third year ASA FO earned 51K. A couple of other FOs earning 43K. A 3rd year Brasilia Captain earned 61K.

You give yourself 5 years at the regionals, and you will be darn near close to that 100K your buddies will supposedly be earning. And you will have a lot more time off than they will.

Go work in a cube farm making 50k and see what happens. You can have my job in a few weeks. I made 73k, but they'll offer a young person 45.

Horsepoo! I get such a kick out of this. If I had a penny for every freshly minted college kid that thinks they are gonna make 6 figures in 5 years, well I would be rich!

If flying is what you want to do more than anything in the world, you better do it because no amount of money will make you happy otherwise.
I made that mistake and now have faced a much harder transition to the flying world.

Well the UPS guys posted, how about the Fed-Ex'ers? Come on guys we need something to strive for on those cold lonely nights in trucker hotel rooms.

Merit -

I don't get it. Usually I like your posts. Don didn't come out of nowhere and create a thread on his own and put that out. The thread starter wanted to know and people answered honestly, including DE727UPS.

The thread was going just as the thread starter would have hoped until you brought the numbers to a halt with stuff you could have PM'd.

One year at company.

20K, 7K in per diem after that.

New hire class didn't start until February, line guarantee didn't start until April.

Position: System TDY Chieftan/BE99 Captain. 70% Chieftan
Years at company: 1.2 years
2007 gross earnings: 36k (per diem included)
Hrs TT:561

Position: Large Cabin CA
Airline: Part 91/135 Charter/Management Operator
Years at current job: 1 year
Gross Earnings: 110,000 base salary

Flew just under 400 hours last year with an average of 13 days per month worked. Less than 40 overnights. Per diem/medical/401k benefits of @ 22k in addition to base salary. Amount of time able to spend with young children - priceless.

First 5 months of the year at Pinnacle as a Captain/union rep, last 7 months of the year as a copilot at the Tran:

Pinnacle: $30k
AirTran: $23.2k

Doesn't include per diem. Can't wait to hit second year pay. This pay cut is killing me.
