Taking the plunge...for real

I have finally gotten over my fear of an extreme drop in income from making the switch to airline pilot. I really need some advice on this career change especially since it involves my family too. To cut some expenses, the wife and I decided to move to the Fort Worth area of Texas when I am done with my needed ratings. The reason we are staying out here so long is so that she can make managing editor and have experience as managing editor on her resume, since she will be my sugar momma for the next 5 years or so.

Edit: Just saw there is a place for this type of post, sorry to put it it in the wrong place.

Yeah dawg... yeah.

Sorry, I'm sitting in the plane in hotlanta and the natives must be rubbing off on me.

Anyhow... good for you man. Can you remind us (err... me at least) how far along you are now?

Post-solo just filling in hours hours and requirements to get ready for the checkride. As long as the weather and my schedule cooperates I'll be starting on my IFR just in time for the marine layer to set in nice and thick.

Good for you Ed, we both need to "do it do it do it" like they said in Starsky & Hutch!

We've both been talkin' bout it long enough!!!

Good to hear it Ed. Hopefully I'll be ready to start my instrument when you are and we can split some time. Got any cross countries planned yet?

I'm jealous. As it's not really in my long term goals of flying Part 121, I've always wanted an aviation career. I can and will do so in time as a CFI/CFI-I and MEI, but my income is such that, I can't quite di so until my youngest graduates high school. Three years and counting.

Kudos to you.
