Skywest lateral

Current XJT F/O for 6 months. Great company and great people but am considering a lateral move to Skywest for better domiciles. The commute isn't bad but I live in ORD and go to DEN alot to see my daughter so Skywest makes more sense in the long run. I could live in either place. Skywest was my first airline interview experience last year which probably explains why I wasn't hired but got picked up by XJT right after. Do they like interviewee's the second time around? Already flying a jet, so could I expect to get the CRJ and ORD as a new hire? Do benefits and pay start immediately in training and how long is training?

I would consider you crazy not to try again at Skywest for the same reasons I would consider someone crazy not to try again at Xjet if they lived in Houston.

Seriously. All things being equal, commuting to LAX/ONT/EWR is nuts when you've got a base in your home town.

I know, I know. Pot, kettle, black.

I don't remember exactly what it was, but you do get paid during training. 64 hours/mo is coming from somewhere in the back of my mind... and I believe benefits are after 30 days.

Chicago is a pretty junior base for us, so you'd probably move up pretty quick and not have to do too much reserve.

Think about it this way folks.

I'm in my 10th, almost 11th year at Delta.

I live in N. Scottsdale, but I'm based in JFK.

What would you think if I said, "Hey guys, I live in PHX, USAirways is hiring and I'm thinking about applying there so I don't have to commute."

Be honest.

Don't give me any of that touchy-feelie bullcrap about "Oh Doug, we'd support you in ANY decision you made! We just want you to be happy, oh *kisses* *hugs*" because I know you're not being honest.

That's apples to oranges bro! He's talking about switching from pretty much identical places after 180 days. If he was at CAL and wanted to jump to AMR or UAL so he could get ORD I would say just stay and move to domicile if you can't handle the commute.
