To the Colgan guys..

Dang. Your hotel in Toronto sounds a bit better than ours. Well, from a certain standpoint. It's not a far drive from the airport, clean rooms and heated bathroom floors. Other than that, no free breakfast and very little within walking distance other than Arizona's.

Oh, and no int'l per diem for us PCL folks, either, so I highly doubt Colgan gets it. And people wonder why no one wants to do Canadian overnights anymore....

You know, Toronto is the most plain 5 million + population city out there. I'd rather be home in Des Moines. Never mind the fact that it's in a communist country where alcohol isn't readily available at any corner store like it ought to be and you get jacked 15% on top of menu prices when you want to get a bite to eat and a beer.

We have two overnights there, one downtown and one by the airport. I personally like the one by the airport. From the airport Crowne Plaza there's a couple USA-themed chain restaurants you can go to and get your overpriced (and overtaxed) food and beer before going to sleep. Our downtown long overnight is some wannabee "nice" hotel where they can't even get you a free internet connection. It's near the city hall thing and the corner of Yonge and Dundas which is supposed to be some kind of inadequate Canadian Times Square. I hate that place. The long ride down there isn't worth it. I don't care if I can go out and buy CAD $6 pints of beer. You'll end up eating at Subway and/or Tim Horton's anyway.

Montreal, on the other hand, is AWESOME. We ended our night at and closed down an "adult"-oriented establishment at 4am in the freezing-ass cold the night I was there. Totally worth it, and a darn good thing our show wasn't until 5pm the next day.

The Toronto thing must be a fluke. Otherwise it's bare-bones minimum.

Watch out for the shirtless truckers in Manassas!

Do all pilots have to go to Manassas for some portion of their training? These Best Western stories are enough alone to make me think twice.

every pilot and flight attendant go to manassas.

If you are in the saab or beech you go there for indoc and systems
If you are in the Q you go there for indoc (2 weeks)
If you are a FA you go there for the whole deal

The best western wasnt that bad for two weeks but I would NOT want to be there longer than that. The hotel we stay at in Canada is great, free hot breakfast where the eggs came from chickens and not a can and a nice hot dinner 4 days per week. The only downfall is there is really nothing nearby to get to in Toronto although the hotel will drive you to the store and we have microwaves and stoves in our rooms.

Good Info. Thanks.

Are they not putting anyone in the Colgan apartments anymore?!?! They have about 4 apartments in Manassas which are fairly nice in comparison.

The FAs got moved to CS because of one class enjoying the BW restaurant/bar too much. At first they where just banned from going there, but then switched hotels. Its a good thing though, the BW is pretty bad, unless you can speak spanish and are not a female. The Beech crews from BKW used to request a change of location when they would overnight in Manassas on the weekends.

There is also a bus stop right outside the hotel, and the buses only cost $2.75. I've taken a bus to the Centerpoint Mall already, which is ok for walking around in. They even have a Loblaw's (supermarket) in the mall. Taxis are expensive when the hotel can't drive you where you need to go, but the bus doesn't suck.

the colgan FA's got the CS almost 2 years ago after a couple of CJC upgrades and newhires FA's made more than bubbles in the hottub at the CS.

Truer words were never spoken, Seggy! I look forward to meeting you and the other Colganites soon!!! :nana2:

THe Q guys up in Toronto have frequent talks about this...that should be 10 more votes FOR.

And if you other Q guys are reading this youd better vote YES...nothing like making less money to fly a 74 seat aircraft than nearly (stupid lynx) every other regional out there. Also getting to ewr without a commuter clause will potentially weed out 4 out of the 10 Q guys this winter season.

August of 08....whos coming with me!

Just cause you have an easy commute doesn't make you special!:p If I do get weeded out it won't be because of old man winter.:bandit:

30 more years and counting:bandit:

yeah, don't crap where you eat... i'll second that one! Speaking of the cs in manasty, my first overnight as an FO was nuts. We did a repo and the FA we were with ran into some other cjc fa's in the hall. Pilots+alcohol+FA's+no early show for any of them=trouble.....dude, 12 years in the army and 4 yrs of college and I'd thought I'd seen it all, lol. Nope.........
