Question for Republic Pilots

Just a quick question, as I've researched this and haven't been able to find an answer. Republic used to have Richmond, VA listed as a base on its website, but it appears to have been taken off. Is Richmond no longer a base? Also, how far out of base can you live without having to commute. From where I live in Richmond, Reagan National is 120 miles...would that be out of the question?
Thanks.

RIC Closed. Commuting distance is all your choice. You could live in italy if you wanted to as long you make it to base by the time you are supposed to be there. Reserve call out is 1.5 hours.

Richmond to DC takes just under 2 hours. Imagine doing that same commute on a Mon - Fri between 6am and 9am. As soon as you hit stafford, you would be in bumper to bumper traffic on I95. Then imagine coming home from a 4 day trip on a Mon - Fri from 330pm - 7pm. You would be in bumper to bumper traffic until you hit Stafford. Both of those trips in high traffic time would easily be a 3 hour commute.

Living in Richmond, I would almost want to be based in PHL and commute:

And no, Im not a Republic pilot, but I am a person who used to commute from Woodbridge to DC on a daily basis and knows how much that sucks, and thats only 25% of the commute your talking about.

I was kind of wondering how people like Republic. I have a friend that works for Chautauqua and likes it. I just wanted to hear some other opinions. Thanks.

Most of our pilot group tends to be happy. Well, content I suppose. A job is what you make of it. People will whine and complain about anything, and honestly Republic has its own share of BS. But doesn't every regional? Personally I love this company. However, if I worked at ExpressJet, Colgan, Eagle, etc., I'd love it there too!

I would LOVE to become a Guard loadmaster on C-5's in WV and a Republic pilot. I could easily live within 1.5 hr (even in peak) of each.
