Where are you now?

I thought it would be fun to start a thread about where everyone is now.
I will start. I am now employed with Republic based in Denver!:nana2: I don't have any complaints and am holding a pretty senior line. We are sporting the Frontier colors out of Denver. I left Aviator with 610 hours and found my way to Colgan. Flew the Beech 1900 for 8 months and then took the job with Republic. I can only speak for myself, but I wouldn't trade the time I spent or the friends I made at the Aviator for anything. Thank you to everyone who took time and made this happen. Remember it's not how you get there, it's getting there that makes it great.:rawk:

Damnit Peggy Where's JAMES?!!??!!??

This is Scott Grimm (I don't think my screen name is really hiding my identity). I was hired at Colgan with about 580 hours. Now I'm in ROC flying the SF340 waiting for my PC then for my upgrade.

2Tall, how long have you been with republic now? What are you flying over there, the 175?

Good idea James.

When I left the Aviator I had 1000hrs and got hired with Expressjet. I have been here since March 06. Upgrade here still is hovering between 2 and 2.5 years. Great company, EXCELLENT contract. I am number 30 in CLE (out of 61 lines, jan. :( ), holding 14-15 days off a month. Bought a house in the CLE area and have an ok feeling about the snow thus far. Sick of the cold already though. :) I need gloves (misplaced mine from last year).

Like James said, I too (knowing what I know now), would not have changed schools. Having the aviator experience was priceless. Oh, and my name is Ivan (big surprise).

Ivan, where are you living in CLE? I grew up on the East Side.

Im on the outskirts of CLE, Madison is the city, its about an hours drive from the airport. Its east of Chardon (spelling?) and west of Ashtebula (sp?). Its a great little town. I bought a house a block away from Lake Erie.

Where did you live?

Hey all. I am right up there with James and Ivan. I wouldn't trade my experience at the Aviator for anything. During my time in Florida, I had more fun than the 5 years I was in college. There are people that I met there that will be lifelong friends and as for the school, I'd go there again hands down. When I left the Aviator, I had around 275 hours and moved back to West Virginia to work for a 135/management company doing administrative duties and flying empty legs/repo's which eventually evolved into a full time FO flying gig. After about 18 months, I moved on to Colgan to try out the 121 side right about when James was leaving. I'm now an FO on the Saab based in State College, PA and I really don't have any major complaints. Like Jaaaaaaaaaaaames (in the best Mike Cohen fashion) said, it's not the destination but the journey and the Aviator was very instrumental in me getting to where I am now and where I'll be going in the future.

I came to Aviator in April of '06.

By March of '07, Aviator had helped me land a job at Colgan Air.

James, in fact, was instrumental in that.

Colgan Air didn't work out so well for me, and now I'm a new hire at American Eagle doing sim training.

I do believe there are alot of Aviator alumni on the site.....

Everyone knows me and my story about the Aviator... NO REGRETS and I would do it over again in a heartbeat!! I left the Aviator to go to ExpressJet. Got some great training, great memories, awesome friends and a TON of laughs!!!

On a side note about XJet... Colgan was once dubbed the "Aviator North". Do you all think Xjet may have stolen that crown. Or at the very least "Aviator West". Right off the bat I can think of 15 current era ABA guys and girls at XJ now.

Neil B. (FF, your turn!! heheh)

i left fort pizzzal in 2004 with 1200 hours. briefly flew a learjet 55 then a cheiftain for a little while. then kind of took 2 years off from flying to graduate from college. was thinking about going to law school then i joined the fraternal order of the sleepless knights, flying a falcon 20 and lear 24. the job kind of fell into my lap, thats what friends are for. now im captain on the falcon 20 for ameristar, a 135 on-demand cargo company. aviator was good times though.

Herro,

I was there until I guess early 2006. Left for an instruction job closer to home that turned into a sweet aerial survey job. When I put in my stuff at ExpressJet a year ago, I had 800 and a half hours. I was really worried about my time, but ended up being one of the higher time guys in my class. This industry is weird. Just finished my recurrent ground, so I've fooled them for another year. I'm guessing that upgrade here will be at least two years, maybe two and a half. I'm in no hurry, but it has definitely slowed down around here. Branded flying appears to be doing pretty good, and our management is great, so I'll just bide my time.

Also, I've knocked up the wife and am expecting a little girl in March. Thank Christ that the sonogram already shows my wifes long legs. I think that the only thing worse than having to watch the parade of losers at my front door in 18 years would be a girl that looks like me.

Anyways, I keep up with most of you d-bags anyways, but I just love it here. Anyone that knows me knows that I feel my time at Aviator was invaluable. I met lifetime friends there, and James. Likewise, the quality of instruction there was great. I would let any one of the instructors I knew or learned from teach my child how to fly.

It was on another thread, but I took all of my students to the hangar to meet the amps and see how those airplanes actually work. Great instruction tool, and everyone over there really liked to show you just how everything works.

An update on some folks that may not drop by here:

Teeter just got done with training at Air Wiskey. Tim Gauer just upgraded at Colgan, and has a brand new baby girl...well not too brand new now. Triple Sticks is loving life at his aerial survey job. Jared Armstrong is still working for Air Wiskey. Dave Wilson is at Chautauqua, and I need to catch up with Jason Stone.

Good to hear from you guys. Just kidding James.

Guys,
What can you all tell me about the aviator right now? I heard things are going down the hill and that the school took too many new students for the amount of airplanes they have and the amount of instructors they have.... Can someone tell me what's going on there right now?

no one on this thread is at the aviator anymore, hence the title "where are you now?"

Trip Stix in the hizzzzzzouse....

I'm co-habitating with my better half in Raleigh, NC. My big news is that we're getting married in Feb. We're having a little wedding in Costa Rica. I tried to convince her to invite everyone from flight school but it didn't work so well. You all drink too much.

I left Aviator a few years back (2005 I think) and did my instructing at a little place south of Atlanta. I did that until I had about 750 TT and then started doing some surveying work at a place based at FFC. I never would have gotten the job without all the multi that I got at the Aviator. I'm at about 1500TT now with 900 multi. I guess it's time to start studying for my ATP. Booooooo.

Chris is right. I've got a good surveying job that I really like. All single pilot and no autopilot. I've been doing it for a year and a half and probably won't leave unless a sweet gig falls in my lap that has a decent salary and a better schedule. We're always hiring so if there's some of you who want to stay away from the airlines just fire me a PM.

If any of you guys have contact info for Connor O'Connor please give me a PM. That guy cracks me up. I would like to see how he's doing.

Sorry I didn’t chime in earlier but I just came back from 4 days at Camp “Double Tree” Tulsa OK. Ice storm grounded us for 3 days. Had a 4 day 21hr credit and only flew 3hrs of it plus picked up a 3.5hr deadhead back to ONT past the original trip release time.

Yes I too left Aviator for ExpressJet and flying the spearmint airlines on the best coast. I’ve been there almost a year now and loving every day of it. Holding a line since month 2 of starting.

Hey Neil, I don’t think XJT is the AB of the west Although many AB people have gone to XJT at least when I look at my paperwork I see MELs: none. Much different from the INOP sticky notes I used to see.

I prefer "Aqua Fresh Fighter". Also, I need your new cell Paul.

Ditto on the connor info, but I do still have his email somewhere if you want.
