2 Separate Plane Crashes

This is crazy. Cameron Airport, near the airport I instruct out of had 2 separate crashes yesterday. The latter crash had 2 causalities and both were shortly after takeoff. The weather has been pretty hot, but I wouldn't think that would be a factor with the 6 a.m. flight. The airport sits in a bowl, so you definitely don't want to go out of there heavy on a hot day.

RIP

Just watched the video of the second accident on the news. It sure looks like no lift. Probably a density altitude problem.

Whoa....crazy. To think JacetheAce and I flew out of that airport this last December when I was visiting in California.
RIP.

O61...not the best picture on Airnav...
Sorry about resurrecting this thread, however, I just so happen to have a better picture of Cameron Park for those that are interested... since I've flown in an out of there many times!

I remember how hard it was to find this airport at night. I don't think there's a beacon, or if there is, it wasn't operating that one night I flew back from San Francisco. It's a cool little airport though...

There isn't one... basically unless you know where it is you wont find it at night.

I flew around for 45 minutes once looking for it before telling my friend I wasn't going any lower without knowing what I was looking at. We went to P-ville instead.

Went in there once during the day, visual illusions abound ;)

Ah, that explains it then. Luckily, we had a simple GPS that helped tremendously in finding it that night.

Yeah, even my dad in the back seat was having a hard time finding it that night... and he's flown in and out of that airport 100's of times.
