And is a turboprop! I'll be flying the ATR and joining the infamous ASA "prop mafia" This should be fun:D Oh, and the TA got approved so I get a raise to $23 an hr and a 300 and something dollar signing bonus. Moreover, we get off til next Monday for Thanksgiving! Nothing better than paid vacation. Im staying in ATL to avoid the craziness of nonreving during a holiday so if anyone(Surreal etc.) wants to throw together a ATL M&G Im down.

Not to steal Lloyd's line or anything, but flying a prop has become something like The Few/The Proud.
 
I dearly loved my many years on the ATR. :)

Enjoy it! The mechanics horn is really funny, the document door comes in handy for smoking while sitting in the box, make sure the F/A knows which way the handle is "closed" and to not try to open it right after takeoff.

Yeah, not so sure he's going to love the ATR as far as turboprops go. It's a flying school bus with zero climb performance, although if you get to take it into <4000ft runways it can be pretty exciting. It also makes by far the coolest beta sounds of any airplane out there...there's something about the sounds 13ft props that spin at barely 1000 rpm make that is really cool.
 
Oh you could totally tell the difference between the Saab and the ATR without seeing the plane at all. The Saab was higher-pitched and whiny sounding, the ATR had a nice deep drone to it.
 
Ahh Congrats on the new gig. Flying the ATR will give you a respect for props, I'm sure you will love it. That's one cool bird and a great opportunity to fly one. Welcome to the world of beta!
 
We're a pretty small dept. at ASA. have to have a sense of humor and work ethic to survive the ATR dept. Study hard but don't forget to get to know your classmates.

How many ATR guys were in your class btw.
 
Congrats. Although if you were on the CRJ700 you could get two flight attendents and fly a jet. JK.
