Working the flight safety program for American eagle

Hi everyone
I want to thank everyone at the Las Vegas event for being so nice and making me feel right at home. I was offered a quick three week refresher at Flight Safety before initial training at DFW with American Eagle. Was offered the job in Vegas. It comes fast and hard especially if you had not flown regular for the last few years. If you come to this program, be ready, but the people here are very nice and the epuipment excellent. I guess they should be considering how much AE is paying them to teach us. Jack

CONGRATS, great to see you getting online.

We were told in Vegas that they pay for FS, but not the pilot (you). Once at AE you are paided. I am not sure about per diem while at FS.

Jack good to hear from you again sir! Glad it is all working out.
I sent an email to Karen at AE but never got a reply. I don't think any of us have heard what the exact scoop is with the FS program. If you could, please feed us some info.

Big daddy Jack......can we get the low down on the training. When you get time, of course :-) It was nice meetin' ya in Vegas and glad you got the opportunity to come out, even without knowing what you were really coming too. Good luck w/ AE and we look forward to gouge on the FSA training--there are a few folks that wold be interested in the info.

Jack is a former Navy helicopter pilot who was offered a job at American Eagle.

American Eagle sends select applicants, free-of-charge, to FlightSafety for a quick refresher course before starting initial training at American Eagle.

Jack's got a zillion hours of helo but not a whole lot of fixed wing time so it's a win-win for all parties.
 
Hey Doug, I was wondering, or perhaps someone could help, if you are successful and A.E. sends you to Vero, or wherever they are conducting the refresher course, do they give you per diem during that time?

I have heard conflicting stories, so just trying to figure it out. Thanks!
 
Well that one got away from me. I still here at Flight Safety. To answer most of the questions, I have over 3K in hours, more than 400 fixed wing and 500+ instument. More actual that a helo pilot should. They are taking pilots a lot younger then me and with few hours.
AE is paying for the room, sometimes doubled up, breakfast and lunch at the local cafe. Dinner is on your own. No per diem or pay.
Since this is the first few classes it is slightly disorganized, but by the third day things shape up. The three week class consist of 3 flights in a Seminole practicing flows, and simulated AE profiles. Then a week of ground school on the ERJ145 followed by 6 simulator ERJ hops. Each flight/hop consist of 2 hours as pilot flying and two hours as pilot not flying. In the seminole you sit in back as the non flying pilot sometimes verbalizing the non flying pilot's responsibilities. The instuctor sets up most of it.
If you come bring a headset, kneeboard. all your paper work, passport, etc. If you have not used the Garmin 400/500, download the trainer and figure out the buttons. There is a library, computer simulators, and lots of resources here. Any questions give me a call at 415 320 0534.
 
How long is this refresher class??? And how many people are currently at Flight Safety training for eagle??? I'm really suprised eagle is doing this especially not having you sign a training contract.
