Ameriflight....required multi to apply?

Is that a hard base to get in to?

Everyone has told me that historically it's one of the hardest. With the regionals taking all the pilots before they get to 1200 hours things have changed a little. I can't say what it'll be like here when you want to apply, but I'm sure the company will be hiring somewhere.

You can get into any Chieftain base you want these days, I can almost guarantee it. If they try to give you some song and dance about not needing pilots at XXX, just shrug and say, "oh well, I'll take that job with Skywest then" and watch them trip over themselves to offer you what you wanted. It's a pilot's market, take advantage of it- they do the same when the tables are turned, believe me.

This is so true for the current state of the industry. I'm just a flight instructor, but I've moved to several different schools. Many of the owners are still in the mindset that they are doing you a huge favor by giving you a job and you should make sacrifices and compromises for it... that's just not true right now- THEY need YOU, not the other way around as you can find a job anywhere right now. I'm not saying be a jerk or make unreasonable demands, but pilot pay and working conditions are still in the crapper from 9/11 and now is the time to bring them back up. It's already happening big time at the CFI level (I'm making 3x what a first year regional FO makes) and I hope the Regionals and 135 feeders (all those "second level" jobs) are next.

If you applied for BFI, you'd most likely get it. You could get PDX easily because they are short on pilots. Like ESF said, everyone's short everywhere. They'll give you what you want.

That is almost spot on with a new hire in SLC
