CFI Renewal through Duties and Responsibilities

Thats about how Dads CFI renewal went. He basically said "Hi, I need my CFI renewed" and they had the paper printed out 5 minutes ago. Then again he flew with half the FSDO back in the 80s and they know he owns a flight school.
My old DE was telling me about a reg that allowed renewal by "acquaintance". That was probably the case with your Dad.

PS: Thanks Amber... I didn't even consider the "necroposting" angle". I just looked at it as an unresolved thread and I was playing "mythbuster". ;)

Oh, no worries :) If I see an old thread reopened I generally put the lock on it cause it can cause confusion, the older the thread the worse it tends to be. However, the request was politely made to reopen, and after re-reading the thread I have no problem with that :)

but it would be good in the future to just start a new thread entirely! :)
Sorry about that...

I'm a mod on my airline's forums and whenever folks bring up "old news" in a new thread or they post something they think is new but has actually been posted several times before... I usually just merge it with the older thread/s. That way folks get a lot more information in the long run... and it highlights the fact, in a nice way, that folks could use the search function a weee bit more often. ;)

Thus my thought of it not being considered a necropost, especially at only 5 months. To me... necroposting is simply dragging up old threads for no reason other than to get a rise out of folks or even trick them into thinking that old news is actually current news.

Different philosophies... I know. I'll be more careful in the future... apologies. :)

I kind of enjoyed reading the older thread...seeing the different points and different experiences. This website gets so many new members weekly that most won't take the time to look something up. This thread had great information that can be helpful to a lot of CFI's and future CFI's.

Bob rocks. Period. :rawk:
