The Palms...

I'd also veto the excalibur, although you could probably get a good deal there. Basically what my roommate said (Loadmaster) on the place, old, dingy, rundown, and a bed that smelled like you know what (that one was his:D). I personally would have spent another 30 bucks to stay at the Monte Carlo. From what I saw of the MC it seemed very nice. If the MC had a big enough suite, I would go for that.

The suites at the Monte Carlo were pretty nice. There was only one bed but they brought a rolling bed in and the couch was just fine.

You could sleep four in there just fine and the rate was pretty good!

Bobduck's room had two queen beds at the Monte....and he got two REALLY good rates for Sunday & Monday night (somewhere in the $70-$80 range).

I checked The Palms website and they advertise their "regular room" rate to be $265/night.

My vote would be the Monte.

I also had a double queen in the Monte, and I got the $69 Sun $79 Mon rate. That was quite a deal.

Well, that's my mind made up.

yea.. i'd have to see what kind of group rates we could get....if everyone wanted to try doing that again...

but in all reality, for the effort i put into group rates, most people stayed off site since only 10-15 rooms were booked under the group code. so, that's a lot of work for me with little positive effect.

I'd say don't sweat it, then.

We can book on our own. And then you don't have to worry about people bitching about how they want to be at this hotel versus that hotel.

To me, a hotel room is just a place to crash. If it's not a dump then it's cool by me.

I'm all about the partying it up and I figure that if I party it up right, then it doesn't matter if I'm crashing in the Harrah's or the Wynn, the bed's gonna feel just fine.

Does the Palms have a shuttle to/from the strip? I know the Hard Rock does that now, running every 30 mins.

Man!!, you know where the Hard Rock is? They would need a shuttle if they ever hope to have anyone stay there.

That place gives "Off the strip" whole new meaning.

Yes I do, because I stayed at Terribles (up a block from the Hard Rock) and walked to/from the strip a few years ago, and for a few days last year. Its not that bad a walk up, its the drunk walk back that needs the taxi

Now Sam's Town is OFF THE STRIP!

Kristie.....I (and I know others do to) appreciate the effort you made for the group rate at the MC. It's a nice hotel and the rates were excellent. You know, Sat. was a bit expensive, but I stayed there Sat. too. Just because the extra price was worth it to not have to shlep my stuff around from hotel to hotel, just to save a few bucks.

So, thanks again for the effort! To me, it was worth it.

I vote for the Motel 6 :nana2:

Don't knock it, I stayed there three years ago. Cheap, close to the strip, and decent rooms for the price. Only thing I didn't like was the doors open to the outside and not a hallway....

That's why it's a Motel, baby! :nana2:

I know I appreciated the group rate effort, and it worked out perfectly for me, staying the Sunday and Monday nights.

Even though a lot of people might not have taken up on the offer I'm sure everyone was grateful for the effort.

:yeahthat:
I'm with Wang on this'n.

You two do enough as it is getting this thing set up. Let us get arrange for our own hotels...or motels ;) .... and that'll take some of the onus off of you. Whatever we can do to fend for ourselves ain't no thang.

Now for a serious reply -

We really liked the Monte Carlo and would definatley vote to stay there again.
Excellent location, nice rooms, nice buffet, good rates, and...

.. reasonable minimums on the craps table! (Kristie and TheShortOne will back me up on that I'm sure)

Depending on the time of night. if you go early enough, they have the tables set to $5 and them bump them up as the evening goes on.
