Netjets TA

OK I have to admit, I almost fell over when looking at the pay rates.

FO's start at $56k base for the 7/7 up to $65k for the 18 on (I believe). 5 year pay for FO's is somewhere around $75k. The 5 gateway airports expand to 100.

Just stuff I picked up over on the "other" forum. That's pretty sweet. Congrats - now why aren't the regionals like this?

I hope that's a rhetorical question.

NetJets has standards and minimums that are inflexible. They weren't getting what they needed, so they are trying up the ante (whether it passes or not is another thread). Regionals basically don't have either one, in comparison, and they still have a relatively steady stream of idiots willing to work for $18k a year. Anybody with 600 hours, a commercial multi, and a pulse (just for you, Surreal) can get hired somewhere.

If the firm minimums that NetJets has (in their owners' contract) were applied to the 121 world, I'm willing to bet life would drastically change for the better. Grandfather those already there. Watch the scumbag airlines die like roaches, and those remaining trip over each other trying to get the qualified pilots they need.

Just my opinion. I'm sure it'll never happen.

Weren't you one of those idiots too? I wouldn't say I'm an idiot for doing what I'm doing. In fact, if I had all the money in the world, you know what I'd be doing? The same damn thing. It wouldn't be flying the big stuff overseas, UPS/FedEx etc, or corporate. It would be flying nice, modern equipment on an easy schedule.

Initially yes, but then we will end up 5 years later with everyone having 2500TT while CFI'ing, 135 freighting it, etc. Freight jobs would become popular again, the raises that have happened there would definitely NOT have happened or continue to, CFI's would be working a lot more for less pay, etc. etc.

I disagree that it would improve things drastically, especially to the point of making $60k/yr right off the bat. I think Netjets is able to get this pay raise because they are essentially "the" fractional brand. Kinda like how UPS and FedEx are able to get killer contracts - they are the best at what they do - while all those supplemental 121 carriers like Amerijet pale in comparison.

Has Netjets really been that hard up for applicants lately? I know a few from my Company (all captains from what I remember) have left recently for them.

I think the problem is that they are just growing so much. They just placed an order for almost 100 new airplanes at the Paris Air Show, and they already had tons on order before that for everything from Citation XLs to Hawkers. They've got tons of new airplanes coming, and they're going to need a lot of pilots to fly them. When you factor in that a lot of guys won't apply there since they want the "airline lifestyle," then it creates some problems for recruiting. I bet that the opening of the 100+ domiciles will make recruiting a whole lot easier for them, though. It would have been one of my top choices if they had had an ATL domicile back when I was looking for a job.

NetJets has exactly one domicile that interests me right now. Open something closer to MCO, and I'll probably shoot my application that way the next day.

Orlando, Tampa, Miami, and Pensacola come to mind for their new domiciles. I think there were one or two more too.

If you are remotely interested, I would suggest applying now. If you're unfamiliar, the way it works is you send a resume, and if you meet the mins (to include an ATP), they send you an application in the mail. You complete and return it. It then either gets accepted, meaning you WILL have an interview at some point, or rejected. Depending on what you put as your base choice, it can be a long wait- even upwards of a year (or more?)- from the "application accepted" email until you are called for an interview. So if you send your app. in now, at least you'll have begun the process. Then if the TA passes, by the time you get an interview, you could get MCO. If it doesn't pass or you change your mind, nothing says you have to accept the interview.

Not too hard up, I don't think, but still hiring at a steady pace. I'm hearing and reading that if the TA passes, they will need to hire fewer AND will get more applicants due to the basing change alone. Competitive minimums will get pretty high, is my guess (read: I probably don't have a prayer :p ).

Yes, I was (and arguably still am) an idiot.

To each their own. :bandit:

Wow. Yeah, I can see with a deal like that competitive mins will definately go up. On the plus side, if I don't get on with NetJets, there's less competition at the major airlines for this idiot. :)

If I only met the Instrument time requirements! 250 hrs....yeah, I'm a conservative inst time logger.

I don't think this passing is a forgone conclusion - it's got to be voted in by the pilots yet and here are a few sticking points:

- The first year raise is nice, but for the bulk of the NJA pilots there don't care, and they certainly question why THEY aren't getting such a nice huge raise.

- For home-basing pilots the change to a domicile list may be significant. I know at least 2 people over there (and I grant you, that's not a scientific survey) who have said "well if my base isn't on there I'll vote against it" because they have it pretty good with the current home basing scheme.

We'll see - I personally hope it does pass, but it's not a slam dunk.

Does anyone know if you have to have a Netjets referal to get hired? Overall this is the company that I would like to work for in the future. I almost got the minimum times, but I'm sure those are just posted to tease people.

Well, considering the application process. . .(upwards of a year - if not longer) . . .you'll have another few months to a year to increase your times even further.

Never know.
