Hired Q400

Hey Folks, Just wanted to pass the word that I got hired on at colgan in the Q400. It took me 7 years, 1380TT, 150ME! Thanks for all the info!
 
Probably gonna be flying them out of LAX as United Express too, to replace SKYW's brasilias... :sarcasm:
 
I start class Nov 7th! The word from Mr. Colgan is the United wants the Q400 in DEN. And CO will want them in IAH by next fall. Hey a side note!!!! Are any of the new RAMS pilots ready to head out!

are you older than 26? If so then yet another of the first class of ten ahead of me :( so far of all I know hired I am the youngest

I'm going nuts sitting here in ROC waiting to go! I can't wait. Keep me updated on Colgan, they are one of my first choices.

Congrats on the job....and now a word of warning.

Don't listen to everything management tosses out, especially now. Mr Colgan is no longer in charge of Colgan Air. Mike Colgan is now an executive of Pinnacle Airlines Holdings, and the person in charge over there now is one of the execs that used to be at Pinnacle. The management team has a tendency to overstate the truth, especially to new hires. When I was hired, I was told we'd be flying -900s for NWA by the end of the year, and a pilot contract was a month away. Guess what? Mesaba got the -900s and there's no end in sight to the pilot contract. They have a tendency to promise the moon....then conveniently forget after everything is said and done. At least I didn't get screwed out of the signing bonus like some of the new hires did.

Once again, congrats. I'm sure you'll love the Q400. Just be careful about what management tells ya.
 
Just a couple of words of advice...
1.) Bring your anal lube of choice with you... the word "Colganoscopy" will be in your vocabulary soon.
2.) If you are going to shoot from the hip, make sure your guns are loaded...
3.) Be ready for, "Well, back in the old C-model flying into RUT" ad nausem...

Im 25! But first class is first class! I could care less about what most people would say about colgan. Here's what I did for 7 years!

Worked on the ramp for PDT in LGA
Worked @ Signature in LGA and DAL
(Did lots of networking during that time)
Cleaned airplanes for flight time!
Jumped in alot of sims @ Simuflight(You can learn so much by sitting in the back)
Sat in alot of groundschools(Learn alot about systems)
Work in an upscale condo!(People that owned a few G-V)
Work at TSA as a Officer( Worst job ever,so colgan is a cakewalk compared to TSA) Trust me!!!!:bandit:
Got my first job flying Aerial Mapping!
Got multi time in a C-402 flying VFR and IFR 135!
The rest is history!
I just never gave up and I always kept my passion and drive alive! Even when I hit a few bumps on the way:banghead:!

Why is it the the FNG's always discount the people who currenly work at said company or have experience at another said parent company. It baffles the mind!:rolleyes:
