re: ASA TA

Just FYI, I heard that the ta is pretty good and better than what skywest has by a long shot, including cola and back pay. It also has a provision for seniority list integration depending on how many airplanes continue to be transferred from asa to skyw.

The full details should be out soon and in time for the skyw alpa vote.

Overnight ASA has become the next ExpressJet, plus upgrade projected to be 2 yrs for new hires.

Amazing...isn't it. I told everyone that who warned me away from them. That today's loser could be tomorrows winner, but everyone said stay away, stay away.

Now, if this TA passes, ASA is hot ####, and the new hotness!!!

Amazing isn't it. Not!!!

:yeahthat:

The upgrades will go down. A ton of guys on ASA list were waiting for the new contract so they can get some of that retro pay.

I doubt if it will go down to two years though. With the new contract senior FOs who were waiting to upgrade to enjoy the nice QOL, will probably upgrade because of provisions in the new contract. Also not to much growth in the near future.

If one wants a very quick upgrade, Mesaba is actually the place to be, I think.

Last week ASA called me for a pilot interview but I instead requested an internship because I'm not done with my degree. I now very much regret that decision.

Mesaba eh? What about Colgan? ;)

I spent the afternoon being disgusted over lunch, listening to my good friend who's an FO for SKYW tell me how unions are a bunch of horse raddish sauce. I'm considering ending our friendship. Every valid point I'd make, he'd make a childish response and say look at Mesa. WHen I was at ACA, ALPA didn't do shiz for me yadda yadda yadda. In the end, I asked him would you rather have protection or no protection, he said no protection. It angered me a lot. He asked me why I cared if my plan wasn't to be at skywest very much longer. Whatta Lozer!

Maybe he will come around when he sees what asa got

Out of curiosity, what prevents SKYW from halting growth at ASA and placing it at Skywest with their now lower costs?

My friend left my employer in April and is now 8 people from CA on the 340... it's going to be a 7 month upgrade. He certainly deserves the break!

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear. I'm wondering if there is anything that protects flying/bases/# of seats as part of the new TA.

I would expect there to be.

But, since I haven't actually seen the text of the TA, I can't answer that with much certainty.

Hearing from a training department individual, that such language is in there to protect certain flying.

Nevertheless, in today's aviation industry. . .it may not actually hold much water to SKW management.

I know there was some scope language, but I don't know the details.

I'm cautiously optimistic that this will pass, thus seriously changing the landscape of our negotiations at PCL. They've been preaching they're offering us industry standard, and now the other regional that's been in negotiations comes out with a contract offer WAY better than we've seen. Kinda blows the whole "industry standard" out of the water. What PCL's been looking at as standard must be Mesa's contract, and even that won't survive another few years.
