Scenic

Did any of you receive an email confirmation?

I just got a reply on their website saying that my application was received.....

Congrats guys... all of the gouge in this thread alone will be enough to get you through the interview. And the sim prep will have you passing the sim with flying colors if you have good instrument skills to begin with. Hope to see you guys around!

Good luck. As far as the sim prep, if you have any prior ftd device experience or are current in ifr then I wouldn't bother with the sim prep. The sim is very straight forward, not worth showing up the day before. Just use FS if you have it. Also a tip, the sim they use doesn't have a tv monitor, it's just a panel so you'll litteraly be flying the panel.

The gouge mentions reading a TAF. I've heard they are big on the Remarks section.

How in depth is the TAF they have you read? I'm sure it's more than just a simple TAF. Does into have things such as '3 and 6 hours precipitation' (ex. 60217 = 2.17 " of precip in the last six hrs.)? Or is it more along the lines of a "normal" TAF with things that would be location specific.... widespread dust, etc.?

They want to see that you can understand and interpret the TAF, not just be able to read all of the obscure remarks. Know what the weather is doing, what you can expect the weather to be like at XX time, etc.

The TAF they have you read isn't meant to trick you or be obscure in any way. Just show them you know what you are reading (ie valid times, TEMPO, VCTS, -SHRA, etc.) They will then tell you that you are going to be landing at this airport at a particular time, what weather can be expected? Do we need an alternate, etc. Good Luck.

Would Scenic consider me if I am only 20? It says 21 on their website, but I saw a gouge on aviationinterviews.com where a 20 year old got hired with no internal rec. Also, is there any contact I could use to "butter myself up" before applying, or do they frown upon that?

I would love the opportunity to fly for them, and would truly give them my all.

21 is a requirement that is unfortunately set in stone. But you should apply when you turn 21.

This is true. For their sake I won't put any names but we were told in class the other day that it was ridiculous how people of our generation think we can always have exceptions to rules. They said they were referring exactly to that.
