First Solo!

There is nothing like a UND solo, in case of emergencies, rub yoke a couple of times and Dana will appear, offering assistance. Thats the UND difference! Anyways, have fun and good luck with flying!

Is the first solo in 112 to the practice area or just in the pattern? Anyway have fun and good luck!

I think all student pilots are supposed to use the Green call sign. I forgot to use Green on my Solo X-C though. I remembered again when I hit Grand Forks approach. :D

Hey, by the way, are you enjoying our 221 ground class as much as I am? So much new and exciting material! :bandit:

Who do you have 221 ground with? I took it with AJ and sat in front which caused a lot of trouble. It was a 9AM class, and my sleeping habits weren't perfect. I would usually fall asleep in class and suddenly feel someone kicking my shoes. It ended up being AJ who would sarcastically ask me if I needed a pillow.

Ha, I've got Bridewell. He's a pretty nice guy, but so far the class is just.... blah. Like he starts off every new topic with "Now a lot of students have trouble with..." and then talks about something that we should have known so well before passing 102, that it should probably be unconcious thought before going flying. I dunno. I guess block 1 is just mostly review, so we'll see how the class gets after this.

Not bad, I have had Al Johnson for 221, 323, and now 325! I can't get away from him, he is a chill guy though.

I've got Bridewell for 221 as well. I haven't really paid attention at all today, it's all just MEL, PAVE, and Hazardous attitude stuff. We should all know this already, at least it will be a easy block exam. Bridewell seems awesome though and I'm sure it will get better later on.

When I did my solo X-country, I was told to use Green around Grand Forks, but to use the Sioux callsign everywhere else.

I had Bridewell for 102 and thought it was a very easy class. Just looking through his powerpoints the night before the tests was enough for me to get an A on all the block exams.

Ditto, "Green" is only to be used for local area solo work. Outside of the Grand Forks area, only use "Sioux." No one would have known who the hell you were if you would have used "Green." hehehe...:D

Ha, I actually had an incident on my solo x-country where I called up flight service, and used the green callsign. Their reaction was "HA! Yeah, go ahead green."

I was never told to use Sioux outside of the Grand Forks Area. I guess I was expected to know that, good thing I used Sioux anyway, and not green. :D

does UND always use the bravo ramp for the solos? i can't remember that part of my first solo 5 years ago. maybe they did then as well, but i just can't remember. i was in Sx. 26 today about to taxi out and a warrior pulled up and i was just thinking, um ok, what did i miss?

To the best of my knowledge/memory, they have been. I remember, three years ago, parking the plane on the Bravo ramp before doing my solo.

Yeah, I parked on Bravo when my instructor got out last year. Maybe it's because if the instructor got out on Charlie, we'd have to taxi past the east hangars where the tower can't see us very good.
