American Eagle in ANC???

NAC has retired all the 727s and is flying I believe two 737 classic freighters and a few DC-6s. I haven't seen the ATR in a long time, and I have no idea how they are doing for pilots.

Question for the round engine guys, well, actually two.....

I have heard in the past that guys with DC-6 left seat time have an OK chance with getting on at a 121 Supp (Kalitta, Atlas, etc...). True or BS?

Secondly, with you current hiring situation does a guy with a fresh CMEL have a shot at an FE seat?

Thanks......

One Captain left and is now at Atlas but other than that without turbine time you're out of luck and besides it would take ages to make it to the left seat.

How much time do you have? Considering the rumors going on around the company about receiving only 2 resumes I would think that you might have a hell of a chance. It would sure beat working at PenAir and starving to death waiting to someday upgrade. I heard that PenAir had a hard time finding flight attendants until they decided to raise their pay, but strangely finding pilots to work for less than flight attendants isn't a problem for them. We are our own worst enemies.

PM me if you'd like to talk and I can give you some contact numbers, and walk a resume in if you're interested.

I saw that but i'm saying, how many hours guaranteed? What's 2nd year like, capt pay, etc. More than just a figure.

I heard first year FEs make in the neighborhood of $42k/year, but I don't know the exact figures for higher seniority or other seats.

I've also heard if one takes the hourly pay rate for a company and multiplies it by 1000, the outcome is a rough estimate of annual pay at that airline. Seems to work for this case. ($42.77 x 1000 = $42,770/year)

That would be pretty sweet to fly a DC-6.

How's the pay like?

It is pretty sweet if you like the idea of cruising around in a noisy, greasy, smelly, museum piece. The flying is some of the most unique in the world and we do go VFR On-Top under 121 which isn't something that probably happens anywhere else in the world. Its nice to get paid a fair wage for working hard but flying a DC-6 or even being around one isn't something I'd ever dream of doing for free. I've invested too much in this career to think about flying for $11 an hour or something retarded like that.

I've said where the pay starts which is what I'm comfortable sharing in a public forum.

Well i think of the DC-6 flying as pretty sweet because i doubt the opportunity will ever rise again.

How are the work rules/schedule like?

I don't work there, so I have no problem talking about their work rules. ;)

They have a nice guarantee and some great work rules, at least from what they told me (and compared to the outfit I work for). A FE for them is making more than a 1st year Alaska Airlines f/o by a fair amount btw (IIRC it's $35 an hour for first year Alaska f/o's). I won't tell you the hourly guarantee, but typical airline guarantees for ones that offer it are 70-80 hours a month. If you pass that base amount you get more money.

The benefits they offer are really good too. I wish my company offered what they do.

I don't remember specifics on the schedules, but it doesn't seem they are too bad... although they do seem to have a lot of late night and early morning stuff, typical cargo. I do see them a lot during the day though so don't know which they lean heavier towards. Some areas I'm sure they pretty much have to only go to during the day.

From what I've seen, they seem to care about employees and treat them well.
