I got a call this morning from SATS Air. They are hiring for domiciles around the Southeast. They want 1200 hours and its 27k a year to fly a Cirrus 22. The told me it was a 4 on 3 off schedule. The contact number is 864-232-9566. You can submit your resume on their website but I think calling the number and faxing it in is much quicker. The interviews are on fridays in South Carolina KGMU. It sounds like getting to the interview is on your dollar. If anyone works for or knows anything about this company please post. Thanks.

Did they drop the TT reqs? Something in the back of my mind says they wanted like 1800 TT or more.

:yeahthat:Click on search and go to single engine air taxi. Some like it some don't. A Dead end to any other Job for the most part!

Do you know if they have a training contract? if so how long and how much. I talked to a former pilot there and They said they will go after you if you leave early. thanks:mad:

They also told me I had to pay for my own way up to the interview, they did offer to give me a list of hotels in the area....which I also would have to pay for. It seems like a bad way to start things off. tThe guy who works there, can you tell us about your interview experience please. Thanks.

:yeahthat: The interview is a no brainer...no aviation questions....I assume they will have your resume before hand and all required paperwork. It will be a brief description of what the job entails . Nice people for the most part but a much harder job than they represent. They (Satsair) don't seem to get the picture of why Pilots are bailing out faster than they can hire them. Good Luck!

Not that I'm thinking of applying, but these guys are from my home town and I have a professional interest in this type of buisness model, so I'd love to hear what you mean by the job being harder than they represent. PM me if you don't want to answer publicly.

Of all the pilots I've met, (about 12-14) 80% like it, 20% complain. I would guess this ratio is pretty typical of any place that employs people to do a job. It has pluses and minuses just like anything, you chose what's good for you.

I cant for the life of me understand why anyone would want that for 27k a year, plus you pay for the interview? it wont get you anything. I understand some people like that kind of flying - cool enough... but the money sucks, and what on earth can you do with thousands of hours of cirrus time? nothing

It's not, "27K a year." It's salary based on 27K for the first six months, then jumps to 33K so that means 30K for the first year. Second year is 36K. Not too terribly bad for 4 on 3 off, know your schedule a month in advance and work with good people, have a lot of variety in your flying, fly a fun, capable, well equipped plane, etc.

It's not an entry level job. Single pilot flying in this environment and with professional people next to you watching everything you do requires experience and maturity and that's what the company looks for. Most of us already have thousands of hours and plenty of multi time so that's not what we're looking for. So if you're a time-builder, no it's not the job for you.

It's also not, "have to pay for an interview." Give me a break. How much was your interview fee? Show me the bill. Oh, you want a limo to pick you up? (Not directed to you Ashton, but to the other guy who commented on having to travel to the interview, "on his own dime.") I know airlines will throw you on an empty seat they're going to have going from point a to b anyway with no skin off of their back, but do the various other charter operators, or Netjets or Flex, etc. pay to fly people to interviews? I'm sorry, and I may be wrong but this sounds kind of spoiled and from somebody who hasn't seen what aviation is really like over the years with the ups and downs.

Yea I guess my point is that type of flying is NOT entry level... I just think they should pay more, given its a long term job.. i mean outside of breath you really cant do anything with that kind of money

Yes. NetJets pays for travel to CMH and also for the hotel for the interview.

Ashton, you're kidding right? These guys are making more flying a piston single than a regional FO! All of the SATS pilots I have talked to have been stand up guys. It sounds like a decent gig to me.

yea of course if you compare it to first year FO pay... but your only a first year FO for............. your first year.. even second year at asa you can make 36k.. and in another year or two your a capt. making 50.. there are right seat jobs for 500 hour cfis in PC12s that start at 27... might be single engine but its turbin...

i just cant see how they could keep anyone long term for that much.. given the experience these guys come in with, I just think they deserve more money...hell the company secretary prob. makes more...do you really think 45 is unreasonable? hell even after taxes there isn't much left of 45

I don't think this statement is true from what i have observed! It's a dead end! Turbine and crew concept flying is much more valuable than single engine piston anything! By the way, half the flying or more is part91 at Sats!

500 PIC p135 carries more weight than 500 SIC in a turbine.[/quote]
