So in the conference call minutes TB mentioned the upgrade mins have been "modified" and they will be announce after some approval. Has anyone heard from any little birdies in HEF what they are going to be??

1000 in type.

Stay dude. By the time you are done with training at RAH you will be in upgrade class here.

CJC looking better and better everyday.

Seggy, with the Q coming online- do you see alot of people leaving the Saab for that? Leaving big gaps at the Saab and 1900 spots?

What is the timeline for the 1900 phase-out?

we wil be hiring street captains for the saab and hondo by oct.. mark my words. Mgmt will do whatever it takes to properly staff the q400 first. Upgrade is about to hit the 13-15 month mark again on the saab. Rumor has it that colgan/pcl whoever, along with horizon have bought the options on every q400 that comes off the factory floor for the next 3 years. FOr what it's worth, CC jr told the upgrade class that houston is nxt for q400 and colgan has bought hangar space down there for it. He also the talks with united are serious, and that Denver could be an option in the next year. Cruise, don't leave man. You will be in upgrade soon, and with the q400 staffing starting to ramp up, you'd hold whatever base you wanted real quick. It's about to get a little nuts around here.....

LOL....I'm not going anywhere. :) Already upgraded and racking up the TPIC now. In fact, I got my #1 choice of bases right out of upgrade and I didn't spend a single day on reserve. First month as Capt. has me on a line of 87 hours w/ 15 off. Not too shabby considering I'm the junior guy on the block.

Think you were actually talking to SigPilot about leaving. ;)

You're right though......it's already getting nuts. Form what I heard, they can't get people to show up for class. They've been offering jobs to about 20 people a month and they're only getting about 6 per class to actually show up for the first day. With everyone hiring now, the initial pool is very tough to attract.

Think they're looking at the end of the year....maybe a little longer. I think as of Sept. they're pulling the Beech out of LEB. It's now going to be a Saab run out of the LGA base that's opening the same month. Additionally, I've heard the same future is coming for some of the WV EAS routes out of Dulles. Talk of converting them from US Airways to United and putting Saabs on 'em.

What are the actual minimums there?

Would anyone at Colgan advise someone with 1600tt to hit up Colgan for a job?

sorry man, yeah, i meant sigpilot. I'm on sim 2 of upgrade right now and my brains are scrambled, hard!

I used to be a crew scheduler and then a driver at cjc. When pinnacle first bought Colgan and the Q was announced I had to drive around phil (ceo?) and buddy, the liason between cjc and pinnacle. Back then there was already talk that they wanted the Q to do well in ewr and had high hopes conntinental would put it in iah. These guys are all about money. They where extremely nice to me, but when talking amongst themselves it was all about stocks.

I really hope pinnacle doesn't hurt cjc by expanding to quick. Last time i was there they where finding it hard to cover the stuff they already had. I have mucho respect for the Colgans. Even though I was working in "the kremlin" I always felt like they cared about us. However being a crew scheduler I could see how a pilot or f/a could learn to dislike cjc.

Also its because I was a scheduler that I'm on seggys side. What this has to do about upgrade... I dunno haha

Yeah, I heard the same thing about LEB. Kinda too bad it's not going to be a base anymore. But I guess Colgan has got to start moving over to Hub basing.

Pretty much what I've been told too.

Again, back when I was a driver I had to pick up the newbies from the airport and bring them back to Manassas. So I would have a van load of new hire pilots and of course I would ask there times and all that. The last van ride had 2 guys with about 350, 1 with 600, and one of them had around 300, but was also working at a sim place in Florida with a 737 and they let him get his type rating, so his is a different case. Then you had the few guys with just under 1000. The guys with 350 and 600 where all from ATP, so they had the ME time. If you come in with 350/25, you probably wont get a call.

How quickly things change here, oh my! My seniority number just continues to jump like crazy and I'm flying my tail off. Just about 300hrs now in the Beech. This coming month I've moved up one spot in ALB (:nana2:) which means hopefully I won't get the worst schedule. Reserve days are still getting mixed in with a line schedule, but those are diminishing because of open time. I just flew an awesome trip down in Beckley, had a blast for my first time down in the southern Beech system. "Doin it Altoona style" was my favorite saying down there.

Lots of talk going on amongst crews about bases closing, company growth, the Q400 taking over a big market and of course the Union. I would say its definitely a really good place to be right now. I was told by a Captain that TWO people bid Q400 FO spots. I just sent in a bid a few weeks ago. I would expect a class date by the years end and Colgan to start hiring like crazy for the Q.

Good things happening folks...

That would not be a good move. It'll be 3 years before you upgrade on the Q. Just because they are upgrading 1900 F/Os to captain in the Saab doesn't mean that they will continue to allow upgrades out of equipment.
