ATC Feeds

Can someone clue me in on the north atlantic ATC feeds on liveatc.net?

So far, I have JFK ground -> JFK Tower -> JFK Departure -> Boston Center High (atlantic) -> ?

does it go to the HAR sector or MDT sector from there or does it go to Halifax center or St. Johns center?! I'm lost from Boston on...

Thanks!!

*the man is relief tonight, so no radio as far as i know but it's still fun to figure it out so i can watch from a distance all the way till cutoff point.

Also, is it possible to get/find the ATC feeds and/or ATC mapping area for north/central/south europe? I haven't really started looking yet but it would be fun to follow all the way over someday. Figure you can follow from flightaware and then figure out what point they come back into live ATC areas and go from there.

So far, it's making for some good friday night "geekdom" fun. :)

boston will hand off to moncton center, who will then hand off to gander center. I've only gone that far (destination st johns) but from there i think they go to gander radio (oceanic). Not sure if thats HF or VHF though. On the other side i believe its Shanwick radio (oceanic) and then the respective FIR for the country being overflown.

Thank you! that's what i was looking for... I know i probably can't listen to Gander or Shanwick, but if i can sometimes listen to that cutoff point.. that'd be nice...

no, i'm not really bored. more like lonely (sometimes it's just too quiet) and just wanna listen to where they are and what FL levels they're headed too.. plus, i like to get an idea of where other aircraft are and/or who they are (listen to the accents etc) cuz that's just cool!! :)

Kristie, can he bid in his monthly schedule what position he will be? Like PF, PNF or relief, or is it assigned?

And if you can bid that position, does it like most everything else in this industry go by seniority?

OH coolio!! you can actually listen to Gander too.

altho it seems as though you can only listen to the ATC guy and not the pilots. oh well...whatcha gonna do?!

edit: you can't actually listen to gander center.. my bad...

Doug would be able to answer the question more thoroughly, but from what i understand, he's able to bid only the FO seat and i think they designate whose going to be the flying pilot for that particular flight in the briefing room before they board...

it's pretty much, again from my understanding, based on who needs more takeoff/landing time.

Right now, doug's current (meaning he's already landed 3 times in 3 (?)months(?)) and the CA or other FO might need the landings more than doug.

Thanks. You answered my question, also, yea I was talking about bidding from the right seat on a flight.

:)

liveatc.net has some feeds from Europe as well, including several of Delta's destination airports, infortunately none of the UK airports or radar areas, which includes Shanwick oceanic can be broadcast on the net as there's some silly UK law making it illegal. You can listen in all you want, but you can't re-transmit it in any way.

Very upsetting to us UK'ers.

Kristie got it right. Doug just bids as an FO and then when he gets to the briefing there are several ways to decide who will be the relief pilot.
1. Who needs the landings.
2. Rock, Paper, Scissors.
3. Roshambo.

Nah, that's okay.. you can have it...

Roshambo? whats that?

I don't know if it came from South Park, but at least that's where I first heard of it. Cartman and another kid are arguing over an arrowhead they found. Cartman says they should "roshambo" for it, and the kid asks what it is. Cartman says that they kick each other in the .... mmmmm.... family jewels, and whoever kicks the hardest wins. The kid agrees, and Cartman says he'll go first. He kicks the kid into next week, and he falls into a heap. After a while, the kid gets up and says, "OK, my turn." Cartman replies, "nah, that's okay, you can have it..."

If anyone wants to listen to JFK tower, they can hear doug working the radio (won't be long tho cuz they're on final)... i guess the other guys are getting their landings in this trip.

holy cow.. tower guy is talking mighty fast!

One thing i've noticed is that flightaware doesn't grab the flights coming from overseas (they didn't this time).. so i wonder if there are any european flight trackers out there other than flightaware?

So is he still on apprch or has he landed already, and did you hear your hubby on the radio?

he's done already...yup, i did hear him. he has a good radio voice.

<-- never heard it before

apparently, he was the flying pilot (i was wrong, i thought he was doing radio up till final but that was the other FO). but he says he always does ground at JFK (dunno why yet).
