A Few New Photos

Our flying has dropped off quite a bit so far in July. My boss has gotten very busy at work leaving him no time to go anywhere during the week. This is actually a pretty nice change, as I bascially have Monday through Thursday off. I did get to go up to Nantucket last weekend and was very impressed. We were parked about a mile from the FBO out in the grass, but that is just more incentive for my boss to upgrade!

We are putting the Malibu on the market tomorrow and are demoing a few airplanes this weekend. Insurance will not cover me in a twin turbine due to my age and relatively low multi time (250 hours). So we have pretty much decided on the 414. Anyway, here are the photos from this week.

With my extra free time I have been able to get back into instructing. Here I am working on steep turns with a commerical student in my college's old Arrow.

My first ride in a Cessna 175 Skylark. It was a pretty neat airplane.

I did make one trip during the week, over to get some MX done to the airplane. Of course there were storms everywhere that afternoon. No problem, I can go around the south side through a 40 mile wide hole. After contacting approach they told me I had to go to the north, the 20 minute flight took fourty minutes after going over to Jersey and south!

That's all,

Alex.

What's the main reason for getting rid of the malibu and going for the 414? Im pretty sure they have some pretty similar specs minus the payload difference?

I'm sure you'll miss all that automation from the malibu going to the 414. ;)

Geez, great photos man!

I'm going to have to start marketing CitationKid/"I Make Killer Photos" t shirts or something!

You're not using a standard digital camera for those, are ya? If so, what type is it?

Thanks for all the comments. It is a Canon 400D I am using with a Sigma 10-20 lens.

They payload on the Malibu sucks and the performance with more than two people is pitiful. There is also very little room inside. Our normal trip consits of me, my boss and his wife, and then one other couple and bags for the weekend. This normally leaves us with enough gas to go 350 miles. We will have a 3000' take off roll followed by a 500fpm climb out. After our last turbo problem, my bosses' wife wants two engines.

A King Air would be ideal, but they will not even consider insuring an 18 year old until I get 500 hours in a cabin class twin. I am very fortunate that my boss considers me part of the family, and would rather take a hit on buying another stepping stone airplane than find another pilot. Here is the panel on the 414 we are looking at, I won't be missing the automation!

Awesome man.. I wish I was doing what you're doing when I was 18... or even now. The planes, the weather, the flying... all sounds like a blast to me.

Nice pictures once again, and glad to hear you got respect! (well, except from the insurance company)

thanks!

Makes sense. Damn, that 414 has some pretty damn nice avionics. Never mind, i take back the statement about missing the automation. Seems pretty on par!:rawk:

Beautiful pictures again!

Is it just me being 23 years old, or is it absurd when insurance companies use age as an excuse to not insure?

Same here but not all people are mature yet by the age of 23. Even though I have been flying since I was 16 I still don't feel like I have experienced enough. I guess I will learn a lot when I become an instructor here soon.

Can't go wrong with 414 I love flying it!! Good aircraft..

Thanks for all the comments. We bought a 414 yesterday, N2WY. I leave for Flight Safety in Wichita next Sunday. The one with the great panel had already been sold, but this one is still pretty nice. We will be updating the panel as soon as we can. These aren't my photos, so I am sorry about the low quality. It looks a lot nice in person.
