How Small Is The Aviation Community?

So, earlier this week, I'm interviewing with a well-known, well-respected regional airline. I'm in the break room at the corporate headquarters, waiting to be called for the simulator evaluation.

Well, a class of Captain-upgrades took a break and wandered into the break room. We were all chit-chatting, when I noticed that one guy looked REALLY familiar. I started talking to him, asked him if he's served in The Marine Corps, etc. Turns out he had! He was who I thought he was.

Back about 9 years ago, we flew at the same airport in NC. He was working on his commercial certificate while I was working on my private certificate - he also knows another guy that worked at the same FBO that happens to also work at this airline, and who also happens to be a menber of this forum. He previously flew for a little while for Colgan, a job he got through another guy we both knew - the guy that signed me off for my Private Pilot certificate. He

He's still @ Colgan.

Bottom line? Be verrrryyyy careful who you screw with. It really, really, really can bite you in the rear . . . people know people that know people. You can either use the connections to help yourself out, or to hurt yourself.

You decide.

True words man, true words.

Aviation's a very small world.

Spend more time making friends rather than enemies.

...and my little small world story....when Dough was making his first or second trip to cdg, I was in the midst of my club checkout. So what you say. Well the gentleman doing my checkout was a UA76 CA and where was he going....to cdg the very next day, day in which Dough was laying over. So Dough if you ever find yourself chatting with a middle-aged UA CA in CDG at the layover hotel, it was probably him.

CaptChris is in my systems class, small world. How'd I pick the guy out? 'Cause he's used his own picture as his avatar. It took him about 2 seconds to figure out who I was.

Oh it really is.

There are some people that are gonna get burned in this business due to how they treat other people.

I won't say any names but I bet in a few years I could and people would know who I am talking about.

OCSoph! I think it was the guy I flew the MD-11 sim a few years ago with at Alteon.

Yeh, it's a pretty small place..

I had a guy in my ground school class, who put me on his "email" forwards list.. I got an e-mail from him and scanned the "who else he sent" emails too and low and behold, was a name I recognized, one of my students from 2 years ago..
