pure comedy

Gate Agents knowing more about the JS agreement than the pilots? LOL.

If you don't want people to think your pilots don't live in a van down by the river, try paying them enough to NOT live in a van down by the ****ing river.

Professional airline pilots should also get paid PROFESSIONAL wages with PROFESSIONAL work rules.

She says "if you are the junior pilot, you are junior" yet they are talking about junior manning - meaning someone else JUNIOR to you SHOULD be flying the trip.

I honestly can't tell if this is supposed to be a sarcastic attack on the company or if it's actually real. If it is real, OMFG.

"My wife has a chemotherapy appointment, but I think I can reschedule it!."

Yeah, that part was one of the most ridiculous things. Junior pilot or not…..that’s just insane. Family business of that nature is serious.

"My wife has a chemotherapy appointment, but I think I can reschedule it!."

Yeah and then the guy in blue on the left who looks like a baseball umpire comes back and says

"While he did get junior assigned, and his wife did miss her chemo, he handled it much better"

Professional standards?

At 9:20 in the video "....some trips require you to sleep on the aircraft..."
????????????????????????????????????????
Are we talking about just a quick nap between legs on long break here? A high speed overnight flight (late night departure on duty till early AM departure-where hotels should still be provided)? Or is it really bad enough that no hotel is provided on some overnights????

Can someone fill in the blank on exactly what was meant by that?

Unless something has changed, Mesa pilots have been known to sleep on the jet during highspeeds.

professionalism guys ;)

Yes, that's an actual video produced by the former MEC. At the time, the company was whining that too many pilots were being rude to crew tracking (gee, I wonder why?!), so MAG-ALPA produced this video to appease Management. They intentionally made it cheezy, and tried their best to also put in enough sarcastic remarks to make the spineless types realize that they need to stand up for themselves.

The "hot chick" was a Crew Tracking Lead. She was one of the few (when I was still there) who would speak respectfully to the pilots, and did not ask anyone to do anything illegal. Once the Company found out that she helped out in the video, she was knocked down from her Lead position. How's that for improving employee morale?

Yes, there are "overnights" where the crew uses the plane as a hotel room. For any "overnight" or "sit" that's less than 4:00, the company is not required to get a hotel room for anyone. So, you're stuck in the airplane. Byron Harris, reporter for WFAA in Dallas, did at least two spots on the evening news about crews and fatigue; the second specifically targeted MAG crews and their "RV" trips. Is it legal? Sadly, yes. Is it safe? Not really. In 7 years at MAG, I only had 1 camping trip, and I made it VERY clear that if anyone was too tired for the flight back to PHX, we would go straight to a hotel. Those shifts continue to be written at MAG because the crews continue to fly them. Why? I have no idea. Let's just say that there are plenty of great people flying for MAG, but at least 50% of the pilot group is absolutely spineless and living in fear of their shadow.

What amazes me is that people STILL want to work there, even after learning about how bad it is. I've been gone for 7 months, and love having my life back.

Yeah, this video is just sad.

I'm amazed at the ALPA MAG MEC for even thinking about producing it. Wouldn't they have figured that hey - maybe we have some serious problems at this company.

*shurg*

I don't know... professionalism, civility, and manners seem to be a dying art no matter what company you work for. The video doesn't really surprise me... but some of the content does.

Jenna was awesome.:nana2: She was one of the nicest in crew tracking. Figures the company would bust her down for being nice and participating in the video. Most crew trackers are off the street people who were just working at Burger King or Taco Bell. Some were rampers who moved up for more pay. They learn really quick how to be heartless company azz kissers. Bog do you remember one of the SOC duty managers named Bob? Now that is one vindictive dude! There was a dash crew that was on a flight from PHX to PSP and refused to land due to pretty gusty winds. He threatened and made good on his promise of making them do as many PHX-PSP runs as possible the next day.

Wow. I have a headache after watching that. :banghead: Having to sleep in an airplane isn't too far off from a "van down by the river...".

Just make sure it "doesn't look like you picked up your shirt off the floor and put it on" when you greet the pax the next day.:sarcasm:

100% professionalism...

No, fortunately I rarely had to deal with them. It's pretty sad the kind of power trips they could get on, though.

The only time I had a DM get an attitude with me was after I repo'd a plane to OKC for MX, and brought another one back. I did a test flight before returning to ORD, and the DM wanted to know why. He started with a bit of an attitude, but once I explained myself, he was nice. I think he was just a bit tired and overworked that night, because after hearing my side of the story, he laughed and asked if it was fun doing test flights with no pax.

Did you ever get to meet John S when you were there? He was SOC Manager for awhile, then sent back to the trenches when the 11th floor found out that he was good at his job AND nice to the employees. He really took care of me when I needed a big favor. As usual with MAG, the good ones get screwed over.

I met John, verrry friendly guy and was able to finess things when we needed to use a spare to ferry mx and parts. I can't believe JO has so much negativity and disrespect for the employees. It flows down from the 11th floor and is absorbed by everyone in that building. I mentally and physically was overwhelmed on the 7th floor. I had to get out of there. It's 180 here at Comair. Yeah management is management but there is a much better atmoshere here and alot of people here have worked here for over 20 years. Once the groggyness of Ch.11 wears off things are beginning to pick up again.
